At The Family Therapy Place, we know that when a child is struggling, the whole family feels it. And while it’s natural to want to come together to fix things, sometimes the most powerful place to begin is with giving your child a space that is truly their own.

Our therapists who specialize in working with children are deeply attuned to the emotional world kids live in and what they say, what they don’t say, and all the ways they communicate in between. Through play, creativity, and connection, we help children feel safe enough to express what’s been hard to put into words.

At the same time, you’re not left out of the process. Our team works collaboratively and thoughtfully behind the scenes, supporting you as a parent and helping you understand your child in new, meaningful ways. When the time is right, we can gently guide the transition into more shared, relational work without rushing the process.

Whether your child needs their own space, your family is working toward coming together, or both, we hold it all with care.

Because when a child feels seen, supported, and safe to be themselves, healing begins and the whole family can start to move forward together.

At The Family Therapy Place, we specialize in meaningful, relationship-centered care. Our collaborative approach allows us to support the entire family system no matter where you are in the process.

If you, your partner, or your family aren’t quite ready for joint sessions, that’s okay. We create space for individual support while thoughtfully working behind the scenes to help prepare you for deeper, shared work when the time feels right. Healing doesn’t have to start all together, it just has to start.

Our team of therapists works in close, ethical collaboration to care for each member of the family. Whether that means supporting individuals separately, offering joint sessions, or both, we meet you where you are. If you’re ready to come together but your child also needs their own space, we can hold both with intention and care.

Throughout this process, we prioritize your comfort and trust. Confidentiality is always respected, and collaboration is handled with transparency and sensitivity.

You don’t have to navigate this alone and you don’t have to have it all figured out to begin.

I think most of us understand that relationships are hard.
But it isn’t until we’re standing in the deepest parts of a relationship that hard starts to feel like the wrong word.

We fall in love, and pleasure, joy, happiness, and beauty fill us up. And on the other side of that love is something we don’t always expect—the invitation to uncover some of the hardest, most unbearable parts of ourselves. The parts we hide from ourselves, let alone willingly let our lover see.

This is the kind of hard I believe is the work of lovers.

As the richness of love and connection deepens, so does the sense of safety to explore the most painful, gut-wrenching beliefs we carry. The ones shaped long before this relationship, but revealed within it.

This is the work of lovers.
This is the work of couples therapy.

Every parent hopes their child will grow up and still want a close relationship with them. But strong bonds don't happen by accident — they are built through small, everyday interactions, says child psychologist Reem Raouda.
