Ollie's Dash Past Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis

Ollie's Dash Past Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis Oliver fights against LCH!! In October 2025 - a lump was noticed on the side of his neck.

After several trips to the local hospital - and a 2nd opinion, LCH is the diagnosis. https://www.cancer.gov/types/langerhans/patient/langerhans-treatment-pdq

After Speaking last month with Oliver's Oncologist we had a feeling that the chemo was working.

The spot on his neck had virtually disappeared, his neck muscles were showing instead of a bump that hurt. So going into his P.E.T scan we had hoped it wasn't our eyes playing tricks on us.

So we waited anxiously for the call from the oncologist, and the following conversation occurred.

Dr: hi guys, how did Ollie tolerate the scan!
Us: he seemed to do well, although it took him a little longer to wake up
Dr: it looks like they used more sedation then last time.
Us: yea he mentioned he would rather go heavy then go light.
Dr: well that makes sense, how are you feeling?
Us: nervous, but we habe faith!
Dr: are you guys sitting down?
Us: us, we are on our way home
Dr: well, the cancer is unremarkable
Us: unremarkable?
Dr: Andrew and Kristie, Oliver is in REMISSION 100% , all 3 spots have responded amazing to the chemo, and all three have dissolved to the point, we can say he is officially a survivor!
Us: tears 😢

We went on to call all of our family and friends and tell them the news!

We went on to celebrate!

Although we will continue treatment through November, to ensure all of the cells are eliminated not just the tumors.

But please continue praying, because as everyone knows cancer can be gone today, and return tomorrow!

Praise God, Thank you to all of our supporters!! We will continue to update, and continue volunteering to help others just like Ollie!!

Day 5 of chemo is complete!

We finished his treatment at home today, he is a Rockstar!

Proud of my husband Andrew, for being comfortable being uncomfortable. This is not our ideal form of treatment, many more opportunities for infection with doing it at home vrs hospital oncology clinic!

Happy Saturday!

Day 3 & 4 of treatment 3.

Day 3: was a long day in clinic! We were given the new antibiotic to hopefully not have numbers drop as low as they did after treatment 2. This medication is good for 1 month, however this medication is not as effective avoiding the type of infections he is susceptible for (pneumonia) so lets pray no sicknesses and this works. He recieved his chemo after about 4 hours in clinic, and was sleeping within 10 mins! Thanks again to the Jaden Lamb Foundation, without the donation of his wagon it would make these chemo trips.much more difficult

Day 4: due to MLK day we ended up deciding instead of dropping his chemo down to 4 days of treatment (80%) we would give day 5 at home, which is absolutely terrifying to us, however we want to ensure he gets his full dosing not 80% so, dad got to give his treatment today. This is after his 3 day nausea meds (alloxy) was given!

Overall this week his major "symptoms" are: constipation, exhaustion, and nausea. We are doing our best to mitigate all of them, but it is exhausting for all of us! He is also complaining of headaches, so that is something we are starting to monitor!

Please pray day 5 goes well at home, that we can administer and no issues arise, that his symptoms lesson and our boy gets back to himself sooner than later.

****And no this is not the form of treatment we want on a regular basis, just a means to an end****

Sorry for the late information on treatment 3.

We arrived Monday, after a dicy drive in. We made it to the hospitality house. We have been complaining of a head ache and belly ache pretty much since we arrived.

Day 1 : got accessed like a big boy, and didnt cry! Was able to be a quick archeologist by digging up some dino eggs. We spoke to his oncologist about a different medication to take to avoid infection due to the bactrim not allowing his WBC (nutrophills and monocytes) to raise to the appropriate level

She also verified that oliver wrestling had nothing to do with his counts being so low. Just a reaction to the chemo and the medication.

He got his chemo while playing Mario cart which was a big highlight for him!

Day 2: he got to give a present to his favorite nurse Cassie, full of presents for her new baby girl almost here (due Feb 3rd) so we might not see her again for a while. We had to have an unfortunate dressing change as he. seems to have a slight allergy to where his body doesn't like the sticky on the dressing so it lifts almost instantly

We also met with the dietician he has been dropping weight a bit with lack of appetite so protien shake rx is in the works

We have gotten approval for the additional medication it is a 1x dose via iv and is good for 1 month, so no more medication on the weekend

He has been absolutely exhausted, mean, and not up for anything except tablet time and being kind of mean.

I had all the plans to work a portion of the day today and yesterday to not utilize so much vacation but with a migraine for mom and ollie feeling kind of crappy it just didnt happen.
