5/14/2026- we will be having our first fresh foods distribution sponsored by Grand Ronde Health and Wellness Center. Boxes are available (first come-first served). Distribution begins at 10am and will run until for 2pm or whenever all of the boxes have been distributed (whichever comes earlier). Distribution will be at the GR procurement building (map in comments). One food box per tribal member household (tribal member must be present). We have a permission slip pick up option which is in the comments (2 permission slips, per vehicle totaling 3 boxes maxim box per vehicle). Distribution will also be at the CTGR Portland office. List of what will be in the boxes will be released closer to distribution day.

Today is Fentanyl Awareness Day. We honor the lives lost and stand together to protect our community. Fentanyl is often hidden in substances and only a tiny amount can be deadly.

Please remember to carry naloxone and take the time to recognize the signs of an overdose. Talking about it today saves lives tomorrow.

In response to our condom beading and s*xual wellness workshop, we wanted to share a little bit more information. Beaded condoms are a health promotion activity to engage Indigenous youth to talk about and interact with safer s*x materials in culturally safe ways. We have been trying to find new ways to target youth to talk about s*xual health and through collaboration with the Native Sexual Youth Network they encouraged us to explore this idea with our community. We are hosting our first one open to the community but plan on hosting this workshop with a group of youth in the future.

One of the main ways that this is applicable to culturally tailored health promotion is connecting s*xual health to culture through the traditional practices of beading, art and sewing which are key in this activity. The Native Sexual Youth Network found that beading condoms prompts discussion and dialogue, surrounds us with culture and also helps to keep us be safe, It helps to de-shame and de-stigmatize the usage of condoms and helps deepen the meanings and conversations we have when we do s*x education and outreach.
