💧 How Does the Lacrimal Apparatus Work? 💧

Your eyes have a built-in hydration and drainage system — called the lacrimal apparatus — that keeps them healthy and comfortable.

Here’s how it works:

👁️ The lacrimal gland, located above the outer part of each eye, produces tears. These tears:

✔ Lubricate the surface
✔ Protect against infection
✔ Wash away dust and debris

⬅️ Every time you blink, tears are spread evenly across the eye to keep it moist and nourished.

⤵️ Excess tears then drain into the lacrimal puncta (tiny openings at the inner corners of your eyelids), flow through the canaliculi into the lacrimal sac, and then down the nasolacrimal duct — finally emptying into the nose.

🌀 This full network of glands and ducts makes up the lacrimal apparatus — essential for tear production, distribution, and drainage.
