I believe that childbirth is a normal, natural event ordained by God which left to nature will proceed to an uncomplicated end in most cases.

Services Offered : Prenatal Care, Childbirth Classes, Laboratory Services, Referrals, Labor and Delivery, Post Delivery and Newborn Care, Equipment at Birth, Water Birth, Post Partum Care, Breastfeeding support. I believe the midwife's role is to assist the birthing couple in a journey through pregnancy, labor, and birth by monitoring the process. I believe that childbirth is a family-centered event and the midwife's role is to enhance, not usurp the family's unity or the father's authority. Except where there is an issue concerning the safety of the mother or child, I believe the parents should have the experience they desire and I encourage specific requests regarding the birth experience.

“After two hospital births and two healthy baby girls, I thought I could endure it again. I finally allowed myself to realize I shouldn’t be treated this way again. I shouldn’t be stressing myself out, rehearsing arguments to why I didn’t want to be induced, and feeling belittled every appointment. Then, I found Natural Birth KC. At 41+5 I got to deliver and catch my 3rd healthy baby girl. After two 7lb hospital babies with tearing and stitches, I brought my 8lb 13oz baby into this world in the most perfect way- without a single stitch or tearing. My big girls got to rush in and see their sis, cut the umbilical cord, and I had a full heart with all my babies present. I actually enjoyed my postpartum time with basically a week long skin to skin snuggle session. I truly feel I got to experience birth and bonding with my newborn the way God designed it, and NBKC opened that door for me.”

Breastfeeding and rooming in protects against sudden infant death. The whey protein in human milk is easy to digest compared to the high caesin content of cow's milk formula. It also contains immune factors that directly target and protect against infections of the upper airway and lungs. Babies who sleep in close contact unconsciously repsond to the smell and touch of their caregiver, they share their sleep cycles, and don't enter that deep sleep associated with SIDS as readily.

The Born in Bradford study showed the lowest rates of SIDS in families who didn't smoke, drink alcohol, didn't move their babies to separate rooms, and continued to breastfeed.

You may be told that by 6 months a baby should be in their own room and sleeping through the night, but this is very much NOT what the scientific evidence shows. Many babies (and parents!) are simply not ready for that night time separation either.
