The power of love and trust births truth. Truth that Angel could believe that she would be able to defy the limits put on her last time, come against questions of what her body was even able to do.. the answer came yesterday afternoon....YES SHE CAN and YES SHE DID!! Wow such power in breaking off lies. She successfully had an Hbac (homebirth after c-section). So honored to walk along side this sweet family for a second time as her doula. Angel you are built for this!!! I’m so proud of you! Love you guys to the moon! And welcome sweet baby girl! My heart is yours. Posted with permission. Incredible photos by @ Kansas City, Missouri

I'm back at it! After completing my certification to become a midwife in April...So excited and relieved I'm officially a CPM (certified professional midwife)! So blessed by all the love! So many of you came around me and celebrated this milestone! I love all of you! Thanks for the support! It is truly overwhelming, I'm extremely grateful for your love. Some of you were wondering what am I doing now? Well.. I'm on my own as a doula and midwife. Yes that's right! I said doula too! I am going to doula while the midwifery business grows organically, taking on midwifery clients as well. I am only going take on a limited number of clients for the first few months. Excited that after being a Nanny this summer for some super amazing kids, I will be stepping back into birth work full time. Please pray that God continues to surround me in this journey as you think of me. Hope I see some of you again soon! You have become like family to me. Grateful for the years of training Debbie poured into me. So glad to learn from the best.

A few more beautiful births since the last post. Grateful for every opportunity. I stare into the endless future and what is to come. In the transition to midwifery that is upon me... I reflect on the failures, the learning curveballs, the stress, the push and the pursuit. The joys, the wonder, the sheer amazement that birth could be so spectacular and not just about pain and the unknown. To all those who I’ve had the privilege to serve and I failed you, I thank you for the humbling opportunity to painfully learn and grow. To all those I had the privilege to serve and you hired me again and again because you found me helpful , I thank you I find it an honor.

“I GUESS THIS IS MY SURRENDER..” 💕😭 Sweet Isaiah was born yesterday at 1:43pm. As things started looking like the homebirth waterbirth that was planned wasn’t going to be an option for safety of mom a couple days before, Angela called & said to me “I guess this is my surrender.” I began to feel the power of that statement. We always talk about surrender in natural childbirth, but surrender to an unplanned induction for safety hits me with such a jolt of power. That statement! When she could’ve complained, she didn’t! Disappointed yes BUT She embraced where she was & stood strong in doing one of her first acts as mom.. protecting.. having to move forward with a plan not hers to protect her & in turn protect baby. Such power. Welcome sweet Isaiah!!! Such a beautiful surrender to a beautiful unnatural normal delivery. God moved in such powerful ways & we had such amazing nurses & care!

With my heart still beating outside of my chest for joy I share this birth story... I had no idea that a heart transformation was about to take place upon witnessing the birth of sweet Mason!!! Jacob and Lindsey are the best parents!! Codi carried well! These pictures are priceless!! So many answered prayers!!! The power of God through it all!!! Wonderful to serve Codi, Zach, Jacob & Lindsey!! Still astounded by the gratefulness & selflessness that marked Mason's arrival! So excited after 44 months of waiting through trial after trial Lindsey & Jacob welcomed their sweet baby through Codi as their gestational carrier.

From Lindsey herself... after battling infertility... we understand that many couples are experiencing infertility. We know it can be a long, silent, unspoken road that may sometimes seem endless. Please know, we see you, we know your hearts, & we want to give you hope. In Christ our hope was found. This child is a product of prayer. I'd like to thank everyone who folded their hands & whispered our names to the Lord. To everyone who prayed for our healing, hope, & healthy baby. He answered. Our prayers have been answered.

We all Welcome Baby Mason with many tears of Joy! (Photo credit: Jennifer Wyse Photography)

NOW THIS ONE WAS LIKE THE MOVIES!! LOL! Melissa & I were talking about how they always tell you it is not like the movies. Wellllll...... it was! ha! so much drama & excitement! As a first time mom her water broke at home at 3am, she text me to let me know.. soon after contractions were 3-4 minutes apart & a minute long. Things started moving very quickly. She labored on her birth ball & text me to come. I arrived at 4:38am & contractions were now 2 minutes apart & a minute long. They were ready to head to Shawnee Mission Medical Center. I was going to drive separately but when I stepped into their home I could tell she was pushing!! So instead I rode with them in the back seat with Melissa, calling the Dr. to tell them that it would be shocking for a 1st time mom to already be pushing but it was apparent she was! I would rather be wrong & try to get the Dr. there then to not call. This is the first time I really thought I may have to help catch in the car as they call 911. But I also knew as a first time mom it probably would take a little bit a pushing before baby would really be born..HOPEFULLY.... so we pulled into shawnee mission & walked in.. she was Pushing in the lobby!! I told the receptionist and she said we need her to come over here. I said she seems to be pushing, she said I know but we really need her to come over here to check in (nicely)... she quickly realized she needed to call a team down! So she did! A couple nurses & midwife Katy met us in the lobby with supplies in hand just in case! There were people in the waiting room with BIG EYES! lol! But Melissa was thinking I really don't care this is going to happen & if nothing else they will have a good story ;)... We arrived to Shawnee mission at 5:25ish.. We walked into the closest labor room & then midwife continued to let her be free to move around & to push on her hands & knees. Their was also a hospitalist in the room as well as we waited for Dr. Sheridan to arrive. He walked in the room & took one look at her as she was now pushing on her side, which is a great position for pushing, & was now quite effective.. the head was already coming!! He ended up having to catch quickly as the head came just as he was checking in!! They quickly gowned him as he was catching!! Baby Levi was born at 5:39!! About 15 minutes after arrival to the hospital!! 2 hours & 39 minutes total for her labor as a first time mom!!!! She was well informed & did lots of walking in prep for her labor. Astounded by God's faithfulness in birth... That birth is part of our normal make up!! & that not all first time births have to be 24 hours. Although that is fine too :)! CONGRATS!

SO WONDERFUL to get to meet Kirk Alexander last week!!! Christina & Skyler were amazing to serve! So awesome to see such surrender in birth! As a first time mom she choose to relax & breathe through each wave/contraction! When we got to New birth she was already hitting transitional contractions! In about 12 hours from start to finish she rested in her body doing it's job! She listened to our suggestions which seem to really help her move forward easier. Seeing a first time mom so calm reminded me to encourage others... this is doable! Don't be afraid, babies do come :) Rest in it! Much love to all the first time moms out there. Thankful for answered prayers & a reminder that at least 95% of the time birth is normal.
