I just love this❤️ May you be mindful of the love from your people and bask in it.

"From the time you were very little, you've had people who have smiled you into smiling, people who have talked you into talking, sung you into singing, loved you into loving. So, let's take some time to think of those extra special people. Some of them may be right here, some may be far away. Some may even be in heaven. No matter where they are, deep down, you know they've always wanted what was best for you. They've always cared about you beyond measure and have encouraged you to be true to the best within you. Let's just take a minute of silence to think about those people now." -- Fred Rogers

I continue to think more and more about how we heal. After years of being a mental health therapist and more importantly years of being a human, I have learned there is no one recipe for healing/mending/wellness/self-growth. While I am so very passionate about mental health therapy and what it can give people, I do not feel it is the only thing out there that supports healing. I feel healing can happen in healthy relationships where we get to practice boundaries, social connection, and being our authentic self. Healing can happen though self-education, through reading about what helps our body/mind function well, gaining understanding on how trauma or adverse events affect the mind/body. Healing can happen through play, talks, laughs, movement, singing, music, podcasts, self-care activities, or maybe even going to a safe space with yourself and letting out a scream, or scream/sing a song in your car even. Our recipe for healing and wellness will vary as we grow, enter different chapters, and as life gives us whatever it’s going to give us. Maybe we will go back to an old recipe that serves us well or maybe we will create a new one. Maybe one day it calls for therapy and the next a date with a friend or time to just be quiet with yourself and take a walk. Tune in to what recipe makes sense. Part of the healing is learning to trust in your own ability to in fact heal, trusting you will know what goes into your recipe. Take good care!!

Came across this gem! It’s hard to describe what “healing” means. I have a quote in my office that says “healing is not linear” and I fully believe it. There is no one way to heal and we take lots of twists and turns along the way. We move forward and we dip back all in the effort to gain an understanding and greater love for that true self. It can be messy and beautiful.

A friend of mine posted this and I thought, now this is a list of self care I can get behind! Self care looks different each day and in each life situation. Which one hits home and what would you add to the list? I’ll go first, number 5 and 10. I would add letting yourself get chances to really nothing, “doing” mode should not be your automatic setting.
