Tending The Nest Postpartum Doula Services Tending The Nest Postpartum Doula Services is a support team member of your post birth plans. I help She has a passion for serving clients in a familial way.

Emily is a trained postpartum doula, with advanced education on working with multiples. She has helped families with education and relief care in day and overnight positions. She loves helping parents feel confident in themselves and their choices within their fourth trimester. Emily is a Midwest native who has been working with babies her entire life. Being the youngest of eight children, Emily grew up with the unique perspective of seeing the beginnings of many new families. Often being called the family's "baby whisperer", she always knew she would work with young children. After high school, Emily worked in her chosen field of Early Childhood Education with an emphasis on infants and toddlers. She received her Early Childhood Associate in 2013. She has worked in several childcare positions, but her favorite and most educational was an Infant and Toddler only facility. Here she took several courses on respectful infant care (RIE method) and high scope training. After the birth of her third child, Emily suffered severe Postpartum Depression and Anxiety. Working with her Maternal Mental Health Specialist, she found her passion for postpartum care. In 2015, she trained as a postpartum doula with CAPPA and shortly after started seeing clients. In 2019 she added to her skill set by training in advanced care of multiples (CAPPA). Since then she has worked with several families of twins and has a knack for sibling care. Emily is a mother to five children, a wife, a CrossFit enthusiast, and a self taught home renovator. In her spare time you will find her at the gym, listening to a podcast, and definitely chasing down her two youngest boys!

***ATTENTION MILK DONORS!!!***
Some of the drop locations in WNC are asking to obtain some information from the donors for the receiving mamas to have some extra peace of mind + to ensure as much safety as possible during this time of crisis.
If you can please put a note with your breastmilk donation including:
1. Full Name
2. Contact Info/ Phone Number
3. Any medications or herbal supplements
4. Any diet restrictions (DF/ GF/ SF...)
5. Yes/ No to blood borne diseases like Hepatitis, HIV/ AIDS, etc. (This should obviously be a no)
That would be super helpful for the receiving providers and mamas!

As of 10/9 The PD is no longer receiving donations.

***UPDATE! PLEASE READ***
Y'all... I have no words. The amount of love that has been shown for these families is beyond anything I could have ever imagined!!! As I'm typing this, this post alone has been shared over 10.7K times!!!!!! Does that constitute as viral?! lol I feel like it does! You are all seriously so gracious and amazing and I can feel God's presence working through you all!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

I've been trying my best to keep up with messages and comments but there are a lot of you and just one of me + I also have 4 littles at home. Please be patient with me. ❀️ I have enlisted some friends to help me manage a few things, including commenting and replying to messages.

1. If you do not live in the Lake Norman/ Charlotte but want to help, my lovely friend Amanda has created an Amazon Wishlist that will deliver everything to my doorstep. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/REJFKCNO096J?ref_=wl_share
I see there is another Amazon list in the comments, thank you guys for sharing that as well!!
I have also created a blog post with links to things that may be helpful to donate if you or your area are looking for things to purchase. There is also a link at the bottom with lots of resources of ways you can get involved/ support. https://www.theboobtiquelkn.com/post/infant-feeding-during-natural-disasters-a-guide-for-parents
I also am accepting Venmo donations to (hopefully) purchase at least 1 stand alone freezer so that we can ensure all of the milk can be safely stored once we get it to WNC and its waiting to be distributed to families. If you would like to Venmo me, my Venmo is . I just changed my profile picture on Venmo to also reflect the profile picture on this page so you know it's the same account!

2. We will take new and used items! I feel like something is absolutely better than nothing to these families who have lost so much! But if you could please just take a second to sterilize any used bottles, pump parts, etc, that would be super appreciated!

3. I need help coordinating things in other locations. Unfortunately I can't coordinate this for the entire country. If there are IBCLC's, Doulas, Midwives, etc in other areas/ towns who are wanting/willing to help, I would love to have at least one point of contact in different spots to help facilitate things in other areas. Teamwork makes the dreamwork and this has absolutely become more than I can handle on my own!
If you are a provider who works with moms and babies, please email me at bri@theboobtiquelkn.com with your name, location, and contact information that I can pass on to people. I will most likely make this a separate post and pin it for people to find and share!

4. Time line-- as of right now (10/2/ @ 6PM EST) we are looking to do our first trip to WNC early next week. My husband and close family friend will be the ones to go. You can ensure that your donations are going from your hands, to our hands, directly to the hands of lactation/ birth professionals in the areas affected. I will continue to collect throughout the week/ weekend and will try to get my address to as many of you as I possibly can.

~~If any other Mooresville based business also feel called to help and have the ability for me to plug in a freezer, I could absolutely use a second/more public drop off location!!~~

5. If you are a provider IN WESTERN NC who needs support/ has families in need of these items, please email me at bri@theboobtiquelkn.com so we can continue to map out the locations in need for our drops!! We got you!!

Thank you all so so much!!!

πŸ“£ WESTERN NC IS IN AN INFANT FEEDING CRISIS πŸ“£

This community has been ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE in rallying together to get supplies to those affected by ! BUT something that is lacking on a lot of those lists are INFANT FEEDING/ PUMPING SUPPLES!

Here is a list of a few things that are needed! I currently have a crate + a cooler on my front porch available for accepting and collecting donations! I have been coordinating with an IBCLC in the area to distribute these items to families in need! If you have extra milk to share or feel called to help, please feel free to DM for my address or to coordinate a meet up!

Thank you again to our amazing community for all of the love and support everyone continues to show for these family! πŸ™πŸΌπŸ€

One thing I do is help encourage positive sibling relationships.

When mom said big brother was indifferent to the new baby, I thought of some ways to help.

I cannot tell you how exciting it was when he came up to me and said, "can you teach ME how to do that?"

Brother was so proud to be helping and getting to know his sister. ☺
