For over 60 years, we have been here to help the residents in and around Granite Falls with their healthcare needs. Avera Granite Falls Health Center is a Level IV trauma and Comprehensive Advanced Life Support (CALS) designated hospital that offers local inpatient, outpatient, emergency care, ambulance and specialty services such as surgery, radiology, mammography, obstetrics, rehabilitation, and hospice care. We also have access to a wide range of specialists through our innovative telemedicine services. Avera Medical Group Clinic offers family medicine services as well as access to outreach providers in endocrinology, general surgery, OB/GYN, orthopedics, podiatry, cardiology, behavioral health, and ENT. Avera Granite Falls also offers a 48 bed skilled nursing facility and an independent senior living community. November 18-24 is U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week. Here are some tips to be antibiotics aware. Antibiotics save lives, but their use is not without risks. Antibiotics are helpful for treating certain infections caused by bacteria, but they do not work on viruses. Anytime antibiotics are used, they can cause side effects. If you need antibiotics, be sure to take them exactly as prescribed by your health care professional.

Avera Granite Falls recently upgraded one of our ambulances enhancing emergency response across our 380-square-mile service area. Rather than buying new, we reused the patient care module and placed it on a new chassis, creating a like-new unit in a cost-effective way. The upgraded ambulance was blessed by Chaplain Dave Nelson during a special ceremony, marking its readiness to serve the community.

💚 Thanks in part to local support — from township donations to fundraisers like the Western Fest burger feed and ambulance golf tournament — our EMS team can continue responding quickly, safely and with compassion when every minute counts.

"The staff at Big Stone Therapies in Granite Falls is amazing. From the minute I walked in to register, Christina always had a welcoming smile and a caring attitude. I came to therapy with severe back pain along with right leg and groin pain. I was using a walker and could barely move. Molly and Sierra helped me immensely with exercises along with encouragement to target my pain, work on balance and strength. They also sent home handouts so I could continue these exercises at home. Being able to walk again and do my day-to-day activities is a blessing! Thank you Molly & Sierra! You have made a huge difference in my life!"

Pediatric Physical Therapy helps kids move, play, and grow to their fullest potential. Therapists work on balance, strength, coordination, and flexibility so children can crawl, walk, run, and keep up with friends at school or on the playground. Another specialty PT service we are proud to offer at Avera Granite Falls in Partnership with Big Stone Therapies is Women’s Health Physical Therapy, which focuses on helping women with issues that affect their bodies through different stages of life—like pregnancy, postpartum recovery, or menopause. It can help with things like back or hip pain, pelvic floor problems, bladder control, and core strength. The goal is to support women in feeling stronger, more comfortable, and confident in their everyday lives.

For Physical Therapy Month, we're highlighting a few specialty therapy services we are proud to offer locally at Avera Granite Falls in Partnership with Big Stone Therapies. Dry Needling might sound a little intimidating, but it’s actually a simple and effective PT technique! A very thin needle is placed into tight or sore muscles to help them relax, ease pain, and improve movement. Think of it like hitting a “reset button” for your muscles so you can move and feel better.
