Yellow Medicine Midwifery Yellow Medicine Midwifery provides perinatal and well-woman care to families in southwestern Minnesota and eastern South Dakota

Yellow Medicine Midwifery is dedicated to providing evidence-based maternity and well-woman care grounded in the Midwifery Model. Providing one of the only naturopathic options for maternity care in this part of the state, we work hard to provide high quality care, information and options at an affordable price to serve a highly diverse client population. We are dedicated to improving the birth statistics of rural southwest Minnesota in a way that is safe, community-based and empowering to families wanting to be partners in their own healthcare.

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, Yellow Medicine Midwifery will be offering a 10% discount on prices to parents transferring from hospital care in the 3rd trimester for the next 3 months, with additional payment plans, sliding scale and work/goods-for-trade options available. We serve southwestern Minnesota and eastern South Dakota, and are based in Granite Falls, MN.

This pertains to all those experiencing healthy, low-risk pregnancies, including maternal age over 35, VBAC, gestational diabetics not dependent on medication, and Rh-.

We are offering this not only because of the growing concern over the possibility of maternal/neonatal infection in the hospital setting, but also to conserve medical resources (including simple bed space) for those that require in-hospital medical care. Recognizing pregnancy as a normal, healthy life event means that it usually does not require medical or pharmaceutical intervention.

We also understand that homebirth is not the first option for many people now considering it in the face of a global pandemic. Midwives hold client autonomy as an important factor in the care we provide, and our hearts break for those who do not feel they can bring their babies into the world in the ways that they have chosen to do so. We hope that we can all hold and support each other in these trying times, and will continue to provide what services we can to our communities.

If the current situation worsens, we will be expanding to provide well-womb care for those requiring routine gynecological care.

Check out the links to the scientific articles cited! It is always important to remember that anything in life, including birth, has risks. Each place available to you has its own set of risks- educate yourself about what those risks are, so that you can make a decision based on good information!

Considering homebirth? Good news! Recent research shows for low-risk pregnancies homebirth is safer and costs less.
