Depression doesn't always look like sadness.

Sometimes it looks like feeling nothing at all. Like canceling plans again. Like going through the motions of a life that used to feel like yours. Like being exhausted no matter how much you sleep.

A lot of people carry this for years without realizing what it is — and when it gets to be too much, they find something to take the edge off. To feel something. To just get through the day.
If that's where you are, you're not broken and you're not alone.

At Project Turnabout, we treat depression and substance use together — because for most people, they're part of the same story.

Anxiety doesn't always look like panic attacks.

Sometimes it looks like snapping at people for no reason. Waking up at 3 AM with your mind racing. Feeling exhausted even though you slept. A tight chest that won't go away.

And sometimes, when it gets to be too much, substances become the way to cope. To calm down. To sleep. To just feel normal.

If that's where you are, Project Turnabout can help. We work with people navigating both... and you don't have to have it all figured out to reach out.

Substance use disorder isn’t a moral failure.
It’s a health condition.

People don’t struggle because they’re weak.
They struggle because something real is happening in their brain and body.

And like other health conditions, help works.

Recovery rarely happens all at once. Most people spend years stuck in patterns with alcohol or drugs before they ask for help, and real change takes time to rebuild thinking, habits, and life stability.

That’s why Project Turnabout uses a step-down recovery approach. You begin with the strongest support when you need it most, and as you grow stronger, the program adjusts with you.

From medical detox, to residential treatment, to step-down residential, and then outpatient care, each stage helps you rebuild another part of your life.

Recovery is about learning new ways to handle stress, repair relationships, find stability, and build a life that actually works. If you’re ready for real change, the step-down journey gives you the time and support to create a foundation that lasts.
