Today, we'd like to share a day in the life of one of our fantastic employees, Dining Room Server Alden Bernate. Please take a moment to view his story in the video below.

Alden joined us due to a very determined spirit to make a difference in the community, a passion for working with seniors, and with the help of amazing advocacy through Work Opportunities. We’ve been working with Work Opportunities and Alden for a little over a year now, and their programming and support of Alden and others with disabilities continues to be such an inspiration to us all.

What an incredible day at GenCare Lifestyle - The Village at Granite Falls getting ready to share Alden's story at our 23rd Annual Gala, Dinner, & Auction, Celebrating the Magic of Community 🎥

We spent the day with people who truly believe that individuals of all abilities deserve the opportunity and support to find meaningful employment.

It was so inspiring!

One of our favorite moments was hearing from the COO, who, when asked what advice she would give to businesses considering hiring someone with a disability, said:

Law Enforcement Appreciation Day! I took some of our residents over to our local Police Department today to deliver a warm thank you card and some cookies our culinary staff made, expressing our deepest gratitude for their remarkable service to our town!
