I have been reflecting on the changes, losses, and growths of the past year. In the lunar calendar we are transitioning from the year of the snake to the year of the horse.
The snake has taught us how to shed, and the horse asks us to embrace the transition. The act of shedding teaches us how to let go, release past ideas and identities, and break patterns that no longer serve us.

The horse comes bursting forth, bringing reflection into action. It invites forward momentum with a new sense of freedom and courage. The lifting of veils, grief, and surrender that the snake’s shedding has given us will give way to a new sense of self, new beginnings, new opportunities, and new passions.

The evolution between each stage of the lunar calendar is an important part of our growth as human beings.

For me, this past year has been one of shifting, grieving, goodbyes, hellos, love, excitement, and growth.

I hope some of these reflections illuminate the powerful nature of this transition into the new year for us all. ✨

Our nervous system is highly sensitive and remembers trauma.

Traumatic events are stored in the brain’s emotional centers often as implicit or unconscious memories. These memories trigger survival responses like fight-or-flight reactions, even when the threat is gone. This can lead to anxiety, sleep disturbances, digestive upset, physical tension, and hyper-vigilance.

Acupuncture helps to reset the nervous system, releasing trauma and pulling the body out of fight-or-flight. ✨

The acupuncture point Feng Chi (translated as “Wind Pool”) is on the Gallbladder channel. Its location at the base of the skull makes this an excellent point for treating headaches, vertigo, stiffness of the neck, insomnia, and ear and eye disorders. It is also frequently used to treat the common cold!
