A huge thank you to the amazing provider at one of the homes we partner with for donating all this incredible fishing gear! Our Skills Empowerment program has been heading out on weekly fishing trips, and your generosity will make a meaningful difference in supporting independence, recreation, and confidence-building for those we support.

At Encompass Person Centered, our job isn’t to decide what experiences are “appropriate” for the adults we support — it’s to stand beside them as they explore the world in safe, supported, and respectful ways.

That means honoring their rights as adults — even when their choices push the comfort zones of those around them.

Recently, a small group of individuals independently expressed interest in visiting a local strip club. While this may be surprising to some, it’s important to understand: this is not a calendar activity or something offered to all participants. This is not a large group discussion or general opportunity. This was a specific, rights-based support provided only to those who clearly and independently voiced interest — and it was staffed with trained support to ensure safety, dignity, and choice every step of the way.

Yes, it’s a boundary-pushing activity — and that’s exactly the point. Adults with disabilities have long been denied access to the full range of adult experiences under the assumption that they “have the mind of a child.” That is not language we use. It’s inaccurate, and it erases the years of lived experience, emotional growth, and autonomy each person holds. Our role is not to restrict their lives to what we personally find comfortable — it’s to support them in building their lives, on their terms.

This isn’t about encouraging anyone to do something they’re unsure of — it’s about making sure that when someone does want to explore an adult experience, they don’t have to do it alone, unsafely, or in secret.

We are not here to gatekeep adulthood. We are here to support it — with dignity, informed choice, and a commitment to real, inclusive lives.

As always, if you have questions or concerns, we welcome respectful conversations. Growth doesn’t happen inside comfort zones — and that includes all of us. 💬

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting Brother, you know he’s more than just a dog—he’s a companion, a source of comfort, and a local legend. Whether at work or around town, Brother has a way of bringing joy to everyone he meets.

His owner, Justin, is an incredible person himself. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), Justin Hull dedicates his life to helping adults with disabilities live fuller, more independent lives. He’s someone who gives so much to others, and now he needs a little help in return.

Right now, Brother is facing serious health challenges. He has an ongoing sinus infection, and while antibiotics have helped, they’re only a temporary fix. His next steps include a sinus flush, and if that doesn’t provide answers, further testing like a rhinoscopy and CT scan will be needed. Justin is doing everything possible to get him the care he needs, but the costs are overwhelming.

Brother has been there for so many of us—now it’s our turn to be there for him and Justin. If you can, please consider donating to his GoFundMe to help with medical expenses. Every little bit counts, and even if you can’t donate, sharing this post would mean the world.

Let’s come together to support a dog that’s brought so much happiness to our community and a person who dedicates his life to doing the same. Thank you all for your kindness and support!

That's Brother. He's a good boy and a great companion. This boy has helpe… Justin Hull needs your support for Brother, the dog, is fighting a sinus infection!
