The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. Frank is nothing short of extraordinary with his role as a Registered Nurse in BMC's Medical/Surgical Unit in the hospital. Congratulations Frank for going above and beyond for our patients, their families, and our community!

One pint of blood can save up to three lives and most of us will need blood in our lifetime. Fortunately, Burnett Medical Center and the American Red Cross are teaming up to host a blood drive at BMC on May 8th, from 9am to 3pm.

Burnett Medical Center is proud to support early literacy through the Reach Out and Read program in the clinic. We are also excited to take it a step further and partner with the Grantsburg Public Library’s Wee-Play & Stay to help spark a love of reading in our community’s youngest learners.

Thank you, Reach Out and Read Wisconsin and the Grantsburg Public Library, for helping us support our youngest community members through the power of books and storytelling.

We are honored to be part of a partnership that encourages a love of reading, supports early language development, and helps children feel more comfortable and connected when they visit our clinic. We look forward to many more story times, smiles, and shared adventures through reading!

Burnett Medical Center has been prescribing Reach Out and Read since 2012. BMC recently took a step further in its early literacy support by partnering with the Grantsburg Public Library's Wee-Play & Stay program.

Jen Hoefs, clinic manager for Burnett Medical Center, stated this about the importance of early literacy at its clinic and beyond:

“Burnett Medical Center is proud to partner with the Grantsburg Public Library to support literacy by featuring a Spotlight Reader from our team during weekly story time!

Burnett Medical Center's participation in the Reach Out and Read program is another way in which literacy is supported through children receiving a new book at each well-child visit through age 5, building a personal library of books while encouraging early language development and a love of reading.

Burnett Medical Center’s collaboration with the local library also helps create meaningful connections between our staff and local children, so familiar faces make visits to the doctor feel more comfortable and less intimidating.”

Reach Out and Read Wisconsin is excited about the partnership being built between BMC and the Grantsburg Public Library.

Burnett Medical Center is excited to offer a new service — DXA Body Composition Scans. A quick, non-invasive scan that shows how much of your body is fat, muscle, and bone to help guide your health goals.

Common reasons you may want a scan done is to:
✔ Track fat loss vs muscle gain
✔ Monitor bone health
✔ Identify potential health risks
✔ Establish a baseline before starting a weight loss program
