“Our program is unique because it is integrated with the School of Pharmacy and the Family Medicine residency program. I enjoy precepting because not only do I get to teach the residents, but they teach me something every day!”

Our next Preceptor Spotlight features Dr. Martha Abraham! She is one of the preceptors at our University Town Centre clinic and serves as our Resident Development and Success Coordinator. When asked what she would share with a prospective candidate about our program, Dr. Abraham highlighted the unique opportunities for those interested in academia:

“Residents have the ability to be heavily involved in the classroom at WVU and in experiential teaching of learners at various levels (IPPE3, APPE, PGY1) based on their interests.”

We are grateful for Dr. Abraham’s passion for teaching and the impact she makes on learners across all stages of training. Stay tuned for more preceptor spotlights as we continue to showcase the incredible faculty who strengthen our residency program!

Kicking off our very first Preceptor Highlight with none other than our incredible Residency Program Director, Dr. Angela Goodhart! This is what she had to say regarding being a RPD and preceptor:

“I love seeing residents grow in independence and discover their passions, both personally and professionally. It is a big transition to practice independently after you finish residency, and I love seeing our residents identify their goals and needs, then help them meet them to set them up for success. We are a highly customizable program in this regard, with support not only from pharmacist preceptors but also our providers.”

Stay tuned as we continue spotlighting the amazing preceptors who make our residency program what it is!

Meet our 2025-2026 PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Resident, Dr. Michelle Grose! This is what she had to say regarding why she choose WVU SoP PGY2 program:

“I became interested in this PGY2 program because it combined all my practice interests and allowed me the opportunity to directly work with patients to make meaningful interventions. After having the opportunity to work in Geri clinic as a PGY-1, I knew this program would be the perfect fit for me. I am most excited to get experience in other clinics such as weight management and diabetes clinic.”

We’re excited to see all the great things Michelle will accomplish this year!

Dr. Hall had a great APhA conference!

“Last national conference as a resident and my first of many APhA Annual Meetings — made even more special by returning to Nashville, a city that feels like home!

I had the privilege of presenting my research project on RSV education and vaccination. A heartfelt thank you to my incredible preceptors — Gretchen Garofoli, Heather Johnson, Angela L. Goodhart — for their support and mentorship throughout this project.

It was also wonderful to reconnect with so many familiar faces, including seeing Epsilon Kappa from Belmont University’s Kappa Psi chapter so well represented!

And of course, I enjoyed attending and learning from many inspiring CE sessions. Until next time, Nashville!”
