Our first Preceptor Spotlight of 2026 is Dr. Ashleigh Barrickman! She serves as the preceptor for our Outpatient Psychiatry rotation. You can often spot Dr. Barrickman on campus in her signature pink attire, usually paired with her pink Owala.

When asked what she would share with a prospective candidate about our program, Dr. Barrickman shared:

“I think WVU’s PGY2 Ambulatory Care program stands out because of the supportive environment provided by the residency director and preceptors, as well as the program’s flexibility, which allows residents to individualize experiences to advance their patient care skills based on their specific career goals and interests.”

Her favorite part about precepting?

“Watching residents grow both personally and professionally into independent clinicians. I also enjoy seeing them share their successes and challenges with current students to help guide them on their own paths to becoming clinicians.”

We are grateful for Dr. Barrickman’s mentorship, enthusiasm, and dedication to resident development. Thank you for all you do to support and inspire the next generation of pharmacists!

Drs. Grose (PGY2 SOP Amb Care resident) and Egbert (PGY2 WVUM Amb Care resident) collaborated for a clinical debate about incretin agonist therapies and retinopathy. Last week they gave their presentation to the WVU Family Medicine residents and physician attendings. This week they will be providing their presentation as a CE opportunity for pharmacists throughout the WVU enterprise.

Thank you both for putting together a very informative clinical debate!
