Do you know you can now see a Physical Therapist WITHOUT a physician referral in the state of Texas?

As of November 1st, RPT will now be accepting private or cash pay patients without a physician referral. You may now schedule an initial evaluation with one of our Doctors of Physical Therapy at our facility. There are limits to how long you may be treated by a PT without a script. However, depending on your case, it may be more cost-effective and require fewer visits to other healthcare provider offices to see a physical therapist first for your musculoskeletal issues.

Please feel free to contact us for more information or to schedule your first appointment in order to help you get on the right track toward your desired outcomes and getting back to the activities you love to do!

Never mind a runner's high — the buzz some people say they get after a run. Neuroscientist Benedict Kolber was more interested in how to generate pain relief via a brisk walk. It can really work.

“Did you do your exercises?”
“Well, I’ve been doing the stretches”

Sound familiar?

Stretches are great because they feel good and give some temporary relief. However, it’s important to do your strengthening and balance exercises. Our muscles and tendons respond to the stress we put on it when stressed gradually and can be more effective in preventing injury according to this study. The balance exercises are also important because we work on the coordination and control of those muscles for purposeful movement whether conscious or subconscious. The exercises are meant to be challenging so don’t feel bad if you are not doing them well initially. Challenge is how we get better, and these exercises are stepping stones into getting back to the things you love to do.

Can training reduce your injury risk? 🤔
‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍
According to a systematic review and meta-analysis of 25 trials, including 26 610 participants with 3464 injuries, there was no beneficial effect for stretching in reducing injury risk, whereas studies with multiple exposures, proprioception training, and strength training showed a tendency towards a beneficial effect for injury risk reduction 💪
