Wildlife reminder!
We have a deep love for all animals and are always eager to help whenever we can. However, when it comes to wildlife, we are only allowed to provide treatment if the animal is brought in by a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
If you come across an injured wild animal, there are resources available to assist. Please contact your local animal control or a licensed rehabilitator in your area. A full list of licensed rehabilitators can be found on the Texas Parks and Wildlife website and search by county. See link below:

Here’s Max getting some cuddles from his technician before surgery to remove a mass.
Rats are prone to developing masses that sometimes require removal and testing to rule out cancer. Thankfully, Max is doing great at home!
Rats are incredibly personable, intelligent, and affectionate pets. With proper care and regular check-ups, they can live happy, healthy lives—and form strong bonds with their humans along the way.🐀❤️

July 15th is National Pet Fire Safety Day
Fire emergencies can happen at any time, and being prepared can make all the difference, especially for your pets. Here are five important tips to help safeguard both your home and your animal companions:

* Test your smoke alarms regularly. Ensure they are fully functional to provide early warning in case of fire.
* Develop a fire escape plan. Include your pets in the plan and ensure all family members know their roles.
* Prepare a pet emergency kit. Stock essentials like food, water, medications, and pet carriers in case of evacuation.
* Practice fire prevention. Unplug heated appliances when not in use and avoid leaving open flames unattended.

Taking proactive steps today can help protect your pets and give you peace of mind tomorrow.

As we gear up for the excitement and celebration of the 4th of July, it’s important to remember that the dazzling fireworks we love can be a source of stress and fear for our furry and feathered friends. While we enjoy the festivities, let’s take some time to ensure our pets stay calm, safe, and comfortable.

Create a Cozy Space
For small mammals like rabbits, who naturally seek out dark, quiet places, bright lights and booming sounds can be overwhelming. Try placing them in a dim or dark room to mimic their natural, burrow-like environment.

Safe and Secure
It’s okay to temporarily move your small mammal or bird into a smaller, confined enclosure during fireworks. Make sure the space is free from any loose objects they could get tangled in, just in case they get startled and begin to panic.

Need more personalized advice? We’re here to help! Give us a call to schedule an appointment and learn how to make your pet’s holiday as stress-free as possible.

Heat Alert!
It’s that time of year again, warm weather is here! As temperatures rise, it’s important to keep an eye on our furry, feathered, and scaly friends for any signs of heat exhaustion. While small mammals and birds are more prone to overheating than reptiles and amphibians, all pets can be affected.
