Looking for sensory-friendly ways to connect and have fun this month? 😊

Whether you’re looking for a new experience or a familiar space with added support, May is full of opportunities to get involved, explore, and connect.

We’ve put together a calendar of inclusive, sensory-friendly events happening across the Dallas–Fort Worth area to help you and your family start the summer feeling supported, connected, and included.

Love the Sherman community!!!

ICYMI: Last year, we hosted Grayson County's very first Adaptive Water Safety Day at The Splash Family Aquatic Center! This event is designed to give children with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and other special needs a chance to learn about water safety in a stress-free environment. It's a great time for families to practice safe entry and exit routines around a body of water, to learn the importance and texture of life jackets and other rescue equipment, and to ask questions from experienced instructors.

If you know a child who would benefit from this type of event, register today and mark your calendar for June 14th from 11AM-1PM at the Splash, where we will be having our 2nd annual AWS Day. This is a completely free event, HOWEVER, space is limited, so please register ahead of time by reaching out to christy@texomaswimacademy.com as soon as possible. See you soon!

Stronger Together, One Connection at a Time 💙

Meet Joe Niccum, a local autism dad in the HEB and Mid-Cities area and founder of tism — a free app built by parents, for parents of autistic children.

tism is designed to help autism families connect with other families nearby. Parents can join groups based on their school or local area and build meaningful connections with others who understand their journey. No referrals, no clinical involvement. Just parents supporting parents.

Why families are loving tism:
• Completely free for families
• No ads and no data sold
• Built by parents, not a corporation
• No child data or diagnostic information collected
• 18+ only for parent safety
• Built-in block and report features for every interaction
• Not a replacement for clinical services, simply a space for families to connect

We know how powerful community can be. Sometimes the most meaningful support comes from another parent who truly understands.

If you're a parent in the HEB or surrounding Mid-Cities area, this is a great opportunity to connect with other autism families in your community.

If you're interested in flyers or learning more, Joe is local and happy to connect.

Because no family should have to navigate this journey alone 💙

At Unique Pathways, our goal is to help children develop the tools they need to navigate everyday life with confidence. Through individualized ABA programs, we focus on teaching skills like communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and daily routines.

When children learn new ways to express their needs, connect with others, and manage challenges, they often experience greater success at home, at school, and in their communities. Our approach meets each child where they are and supports growth that is meaningful for the whole family.

✨ Myth Buster Monday: ABA Therapy ✨

Myth: ABA therapy is just compliance training.

BUSTED.
Modern ABA therapy focuses on helping children build meaningful skills that improve their quality of life. While structure and guidance can be part of teaching new skills, the goal is not blind compliance. Instead, ABA supports children in developing communication, social interaction, daily living skills, and greater independence.

At Unique Pathways, therapy is centered around each child’s individual needs, interests, and strengths. Our clinicians use evidence-based strategies like positive reinforcement and natural learning opportunities to help children express themselves, make choices, and engage more comfortably with the world around them.

The focus is not on changing who a child is. It is about helping them gain the tools they need to communicate, learn, and thrive in ways that feel meaningful for them and their families.

Did you know ABA therapy isn’t only for autism?
At Unique Pathways, ABA is an evidence-based approach we use to support children with a wide range of developmental and behavioral needs. Our focus goes beyond reducing challenging behaviors. We work to build meaningful, functional skills such as communication, attention, emotional regulation, and daily living skills that help children thrive in everyday environments.

Every child’s program is thoughtfully individualized and guided by data, ensuring progress is meaningful and supportive of the whole family. Our goal is to meet children where they are and help them grow in ways that matter most to them and their families.

💙 If you’re curious about whether ABA could be a good fit for your child, we invite you to learn more about our services or connect with our team to start the conversation.

✨ Myth Buster Monday: ABA Therapy ✨

Myth: ABA therapy is the same for every child.

BUSTED.
At Unique Pathways, we know there is no one size fits all approach. Every child’s pathway is just that, unique.

Our ABA programs are individualized, child centered, and built around each child’s strengths, needs, and goals. We meet families where they are and create support that grows with the child because meaningful progress happens when care is personalized. 💙

Every child develops at their own pace, and noticing differences does not mean something is “wrong.”

ABA therapy can support children who need help with communication, behavior, social skills, or daily routines, using individualized and compassionate approaches.

If any of these signs feel familiar, it may be helpful to talk with a professional who can guide you through your options.
