A native Texan, Yvette's fascination with how the human body works, began at an early age. Course work while completing a BS in Education from Louisiana Tech University in 2005, included Exercise Physiology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Kinesiology. Yvette received her state license and has been practicing her modalities since 2007. From an early age, she has always been an athlete. Her sports resume' includes 3 National Collegiate Championships for Powerlifting (with a total of close to 1200 lbs combined), 2 time alternate for Team USA Junior Olympics, and 3 World Championships as a Women's Professional Football player. Throughout her 5 years of playing football, she alternated from offensive and defensive line. Yvette is currently active in Crossfit. Being around athletes and suffering from her own injuries, Yvette is able to relate and cater to athletes on all levels, from young gymnasts to NFL players. Last year she got to travel with the Women's Cycling National Champions to a race in Arkansas. She recently returned from Philadelphia Eagles training camp where she visited with a client to keep him pain free. Her modalities of Myofascial Sport Release, Advanced Medical Massage, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, and Neuromuscular Therapy, landed her on the Season 6 finale of CMT's Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team. Yvette's sports and pain management background make her a popular choice for athletes.

This client was 2 weeks post-op for prostate cancer. I created some lymphatic pumps with RockTape. I chose to place them near the axillary lymph ducts to facilitate faster recovery by reducing inflammation.

Understanding Rotator Cuff Pain

A Common Yet Overlooked Shoulder Issue

As a physiotherapist, I often see patients struggling with persistent shoulder pain that interferes with sleep, work, and everyday activities. In many cases, the culprit is the rotator cuff a group of muscles and tendons that keep the shoulder stable and functional.

Common symptoms include:

✔ Pain in the outer shoulder or upper arm

Discomfort when lifting the arm overhead or sleeping on the affected side

✓ Weakness with daily activities like dressing or reaching behind the back

Did you know? The pain often mimics other conditions, but with clinical testing (e.g., Hawkins-Kennedy, Jobe's test), we can pinpoint the exact issue whether it's tendinopathy, impingement, or a partial tear.

Physiotherapy can make a huge difference.

• Acute phase: Pain relief, gentle mobility, tissue protection

• Subacute phase: Restoring ROM, activating rotator cuff & scapular muscles

• Strengthening phase: Functional recovery, return to work/sport

Treatment may include:

Manual therapy

Corrective exercises

Postural training

Taping and electrotherapy

Patient education
Takeaway: Early diagnosis and a structured rehab plan can help most people avoid surgery and regain full, pain-free function.

If you or someone you know is dealing with shoulder pain, don't wait. A focused physiotherapy program can lead to real results.
