Often understated and frequently overlooked, nutrition during the teenage years plays a critical role in growth, development, and athletic performance. As teens go through rapid physical and hormonal changes, their bodies require the right balance of nutrients to build strong bones, support muscle development, maintain energy levels, and aid in recovery after activity.

For young athletes especially, proper nutrition can make a meaningful difference in strength, endurance, focus, and injury prevention. Skipping meals, relying on processed foods, or not getting enough protein, vitamins, and minerals can lead to fatigue, slower recovery, and increased risk of strain or overuse injuries.

Encouraging balanced meals that include lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and proper hydration helps support both daily performance and long-term health. Establishing healthy nutrition habits during the teenage years sets the foundation for a lifetime of wellness.

If your teen is active in sports and experiencing fatigue, slow recovery, or recurring aches and pains, it may be worth looking at both training and nutrition as part of the bigger picture.
