Outgrowing old versions of yourself isn’t betrayal, it’s progress.
The person you were five years ago couldn’t handle what you carry today. That’s because growth stretches you into new capacity.
Here’s the catch: sometimes growth feels uncomfortable, even wrong. Friends or family may pressure you to “stay the same.”
But God didn’t design you to stay stuck in the past version of yourself. He wired you to grow, mature, and shed what no longer serves you. Outgrowing your old self doesn’t mean you despise who you were. It means you honor that season while stepping into a stronger one.
Letting go of the old means making space for the new! New habits, new friends, new opportunities, and deeper character. Every yes to growth may feel like a no to comfort, but it is a resounding yes to freedom.
Stop fearing the stretch. Stop apologizing for change. And stop shrinking to fit a smaller version of yourself.
You’re not losing your identity… you’re discovering it.
