Why We Should Rethink Thanksgiving as Muslims & Humanitarians
Thanksgiving in America is not the innocent celebration many people think it is.
Its roots are deeply tied to colonialism, land theft, and the genocide of Native peoples who were massacred, displaced, and erased from their own land. As Muslims , a faith built on justice, compassion, and standing with the oppressed ,we cannot celebrate a holiday that symbolizes suffering for an entire people.
The Prophet ﷺ taught us to stand with the vulnerable, to reject injustice, and to avoid imitating celebrations rooted in harm.
So this year, instead of stuffing ourselves with unhealthy food and participating in a tradition built on pain, let’s do something different.
Let’s return to Sunnah-based healing… let’s detox, realign the heart, and start fresh.
And what better way than through Hijama (Cupping Therapy) ,a forgotten Sunnah that removes toxins, reduces inflammation, and resets the body and mind?
Ditch the turkey. Skip the stuffing.
Choose healing, detox, and Sunnah instead.
