Dear Ones..
Today has been hard.. crushing in fact..
All vendors across the nation.. myself included.. received an email from Painted Tree Corporate today (4/14/26) at 11:26 am central time.. informing us that all store are closed permanently and that we have 10 days to get all our inventory and fixtures out of each and every store we have been in.
I have 7 booths in 4 locations in DFW.. thank GOD they are all in driving distance as I know many vendors have booths in multiple states!
This notification was sudden.. with no warning... no hint.. nothing.. we are all blindsided..
Please understand.. there are 60 Painted Tree stores across the nation.. each with 150 or more vendors.. these folks represent the very smallest of the small business owners in our country.. and this event is catastrophic for almost all of us. In addition.. each store employed a team of dedicated staff members that truly cared for each vendor with compassion and a servants heart.. and we are all of us .. thrown to the wind..
We were told we had until 4/24 to get our inventory and fixtures.. yet. there is very real concern that the actual owners of the buildings.. will lock the doors and prevent any of us from getting in.. this adds to the horror..
Im sure you can imagine how frantic today was.. and how all the coming days will be..
I'd like to speak to the elephant in the room.. it is apparent that the Painted Tree Corporate has entered into bankruptcy.. (tho with as sudden as this was.. with no chance to sell off inventory etc..I can only wonder if there might have been something more? ) I'm certainly not privy to any of that tho.. so simply have to go with what I know.. while the customer experience was unaffected.. as a vendor.. I witnessed and experienced Painted Tree corporate make some really really bad decisions last fall in particular that had to do with how vendors received (or rather didn't receive) their earning from each months sales..(I myself went with a few months of erroneous charges and lack of payment.. ) this coupled with corporate's too rapid expansion and so lack of attention on a store to store level that led to poor support/marketing and so lower foot traffic in some locations.. which then logically led to a mass exodus of vendors over the past few months.. all of that adds up to not enough money to pay the bills.. and here we are.. I have to say it is a huge insult to read some of the news headlines saying that corporate is attributing this closure to " rising costs, shifting market conditions, and changes to consumer shopping behavior" .. when the cold hard truth is that our beloved customers were shopping daily and well.. there was no change in customers love of the unique finds available throughout all Painted Tree locations.. the cause of this closure that has devastated 1000s of people.. is 100% on the shoulders of the people in home office with Painted Tree.. these new owners who bought out the original creators just two short years ago.. ran this beautiful company into the ground. I am nauseous, furious and heartsick at it all.
Now with that needed truth said.. I shall depart that dark spot and return to the light..
With deepest gratitude and thanks to my wonderful husband, sons, and friends we were able to pack up and move out of 2 of my 4 locations (Frisco and Vista Ridge) .. tomorrow we plan to move out of the other two (Grapevine and Mansfield) .. (Praying the doors are unlocked so we can get in!)
All inventory shelves, tables and fixtures are going into climate controlled storage units for now so I can figure out what to do next..
The truth is I have a really unique and incredible inventory..the friends who helped today kept commenting on how cool and cute each item was that they picked up to box up.. needless to say.. this is not "yard sale" stuff.. nor is it really "marketplace" stuff (the furniture is.. but not much else) .. Everything I have so carefully sourced and collected deserves a proper place to be sold to those who will appreciate it..
(& I have even more inventory at home that hadn't even made it to the shelves yet. including some SUPER cute Judy Blue shorts (I just got an account with them!) so ya'll HAVE to see these!)
So with that in mind.. Health Life Happy Life is not gone.. its just getting a reset!!!
I'm not sure what that will look like? Pop up markets? Shopify? or perhaps some new store front that operates similarly to painted tree (only better!).. we'll have to see what doors open and what paths feel right.
So please stay tuned.. keep your eyes and ears open .. I'll post here once I have a handle on where this adventure will land!
For now.. I ask that you lift up in prayer every vendor affected.. every staff member so suddenly unemployed and every family left reeling..
With all my affection for each of you here and all who have yet to find this page.. and for all my happy customers.. thank you!!! You are truly why I pour all of my everything into this venture.. and I'm excited to find the way to keep it going for all of you! :-)
