Attending the Nevada County Fair with your infant? Escape the heat and excitement of the fair and come visit us at the Rock n' Relax Lounge! Located in Ponderosa Hall, the Rock n’ Relax Lounge will be open Wednesday, August 6 through Sunday, August 10 from 11:00am – 7:00pm during the Nevada County Fair. FREE amenities include:

The Nevada County Breastmilk Drive, in collaboration with the Mother's Milk Bank of California, is a vital initiative aimed at supporting the most vulnerable infants in need of breastmilk. The donation process is quick and straightforward, and your donation could play a crucial role in saving the life of a baby.

This is a virtual event, and mothers interested in donating are directed to the Mother's Milk Bank website Donate Milk - Mothers' Milk Bank California, where they can complete a brief questionnaire and undergo a blood draw. Afterward, a temperature-stable box will be mailed to them for sending in their milk.
Your donation has the potential to make a significant impact on babies who require life-saving nourishment. We encourage all eligible mothers to consider this opportunity to help those in need.

The Rock-N-Relax will be back at the Nevada County Fair August 7-11 Wednesday through Friday from 11-7 in the Ponderosa Building (by the quilts). In the air conditioned building, we have a private areas for moms to breastfeed or pump. There will also be a changing table with diapers and wipes available. Funding provided by the Soroptomist International of Grass Valley and put on the by Breastfeeding Coalition of Nevada County. See you there!

The Rock and Relax Lounge, which gives mothers a cool place to feed, pump, or change their babies, is located at Ponderosa Hall and will be open daily from 11am-7pm August 10-14. August 1-7 is World Breastfeeding Week!
To celebrate, we want to share some two key data points that reflect the hard work of many people to support families in breastfeeding in Nevada County, including the Nevada County Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program and the Breastfeeding Coalition of Nevada County.
1) Recent data from the state shows Nevada County with the highest hospital breastfeeding initiation rates among all counties in California!
2) The Nevada County WIC program ranks in the top 3 among all California counties in the rate of children at the three-, six- and 11-month milestones who are fully breastfeeding!

August is National Breastfeeding Month!
In February, the Breastfeeding Coalition of Nevada County (BCNC) sponsored a successful “Share the Love” breastmilk donation drive. The drive collected more than 5,151 ounces for the San Jose Mothers Milk Bank. This timely breast milk donation helped feed the most vulnerable infants of Nevada County and Northern California, a critical donation given the recent infant formula shortage that greatly impacted those in need of premature and therapeutic formulas.
