Happy Mother’s Day to you all! Sending love to all my clients. Being a mama is the most profound and rewarding gift in my life. I am officially the parent of two thriving adult humans. At times they have had to be second in line with mama being a midwife. But they are so proud of me and the work I do. I am feeling so blessed for their love and understanding and welcoming in this new chapter of the daughters spreading their wings and flying!

Officially announcing Sierra Homebirth’s newest student midwife apprentice, Tatiana Priestley. Tatiana comes with a solid 6 years of birth work behind her in the roles of doula, birth assistant and student midwife. She has a gentle and kind demeanor and an eagerness to develop all the skills and responsibilities of a midwife. Tatiana is certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and CPR and has an Associates degree of Science and Sociology. When not serving families, you might find her spending time with her loved ones or pursuing one of her many creative and artistic pursuits and talents. Congratulations and welcome Tatiana!

To the mama who was scared of the idea of pregnancy, and the reality of pregnancy was uncomfortable at best. To the mama who was scared of the idea of breastfeeding, and that was also a journey through discomfort. And you did it! I commend, honor and acknowledge your courage. Pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding can be so beautiful and enjoyable, but there’s a reality that not everyone feels that way. And that’s okay too. To whoever needs to see this.. if you didn’t love being pregnant or breastfeeding… you are seen too for your commitment to bringing in these babies, and the huge self sacrifice it involves. There needs to be room for all of this.

And this sweet boy recently arrived… Abram Maximus, bringing even more love into your family. Sometimes when baby number four is coming, there’s an expectation of how the birth journey might unfold. This birth was wildly different than anticipated, a beautiful reminder that birth is not to be predicted, but to be surrendered to, honored and respected as a transformative journey, as unique and perfect as the new soul that comes through.

Happy Mothers Day to all you hard working, soft loving mamas! This is the first Mothers Day I’ve ever spent without my daughters. Timing of being off call and an opportunity for a Mexico vacation left us apart. There’s a richness here in that we’re raising babies and also future grown ups. And one day they become that and there’s this incredible opportunity to see how you evolved as a mother, who they have blossomed into, and witness the change of the season to the next generation. Blessings and love to you all on this precious and important day. BTW. Mother’s Day is a very big deal in Mexico. The potency of honoring of the mother is powerful here. Gracias par todos las madres.
