Vertical integration is a challenging business model and usually does not serve the small producer well....nor the consumer.

It's a step the company took to reduce its reliance on the heavily consolidated beef industry. But, for some ranchers, it may represent a new monopoly of its own.

While we don't breed for the show pen, we are proud to be able to offer affordable, quality steers for our local youth in ag to get in the show pen and turn a good profit without breaking the bank. We are proud of how this steer looks this year. Damian Christen did a great job with him and he represents our breeding program very well.
Here's a preview, too, of some prospects for next year.

We have a few steers available that would make excellent 4H/FFA projects for next year's fairs. PM for details. They are reasonably priced and good quality for the show pen. While we do not particularly breed for show, we try to support our local youth in agriculture by providing an opportunity to show a quality commercial steer and make good money on the sale price.

One of our steers even graded Prime Plus, a grade only achieved by less than 2% of processed beef in the US/year. The young showman won the Carcass Merit Award that year as well!
