Did you know endometriosis can sometimes present with symptoms you might not expect? 🤍

While many people associate endometriosis with severe period pain, it can also show up in other ways throughout the body.

Some lesser-known symptoms can include:

⚖️ Pelvic pressure or heaviness
A constant feeling of pressure or fullness in the pelvic area.

😴 Excessive fatigue
Many people with endometriosis experience ongoing exhaustion that doesn’t improve with rest.

🦷 Inflamed or bleeding gums
Hormonal changes and inflammation in the body may contribute to gum sensitivity or bleeding.

🧊 Cold hands or feet
Circulation changes and inflammation can sometimes make extremities feel unusually cold.

🌿 Itchy skin
Chronic inflammation in the body may occasionally present as skin irritation or itching.

These symptoms don’t always mean someone has endometriosis, but recognizing patterns in your body can help guide conversations with your healthcare provider.

Have you ever heard of these symptoms being connected to endometriosis? 👇

Did you know certain factors can increase your risk of developing endometriosis? 🤍

Endometriosis affects about 1 in 10 women, but many people don’t realize there are some known risk factors that may increase the likelihood of developing it. 📊

Here are a few things that can raise your risk:

🧬 Family history
If you have a mother, sister, or close relative with endometriosis, your risk may be higher.

📅 Short menstrual cycles
Cycles that occur less than every 27 days can increase risk.

🌸 Starting your period at a young age
Beginning menstruation before age 11 is associated with a higher chance of developing endometriosis.

🩸 Periods lasting longer than 7 days
Longer, heavier periods may also be linked to increased risk.

Having one or more of these risk factors doesn’t mean you will develop endometriosis, but it can be helpful to be aware of them—especially if you’re experiencing symptoms like severe period pain, painful in*******se, or difficulty getting pregnant.

Awareness is powerful. 💛
Have you heard of these risk factors before?

It can take years for someone with Endometriosis to finally get answers. Many symptoms are dismissed as “normal periods” or confused with other conditions, which is why the average diagnosis can take 7–10 years. Awareness helps patients feel heard and get the care they deserve. 💛

Period pain is often dismissed as “just part of being a woman.” But the truth is — not all period pain is normal.

For some, it’s mild and manageable. For others, it can disrupt work, school, relationships, and everyday life.

Conditions like Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, and Uterine Fibroids can sometimes be behind severe menstrual pain — and many women live with symptoms for years before getting answers.

As a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, I want women to know:

✨ Your pain is real
✨ Your symptoms matter
✨ You deserve to be heard

Take a moment to vote in the graphic and tell me in the comments — how would you describe your period pain?

Your story might help another woman realize she’s not alone.

Me to my boss: “I’ll take care of getting the mailbox for the clinic.”
My husband: goes to Home Depot, gathers supplies, and builds a temporary mailbox because the ground is still frozen.

Proof that marrying the right person is the real life hack. 😂📬

Endometriosis affects about 1 in 10 women of reproductive age — yet many people suffer for years before getting answers.

Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of the uterus. This can lead to symptoms like:

• Severe menstrual cramps
•Chronic pelvic pain
•Pain during s*x
•Painful bowel movements
•Heavy periods
•Fertility challenges

Many people are told that painful periods are “normal.” While mild discomfort can happen, severe pain that interferes with work, school, or daily life is not something you should just have to live with.

If your periods are debilitating or something doesn’t feel right, it’s worth talking with a healthcare provider.

Awareness is the first step to earlier diagnosis and better care. 💛
