❗️❗️The spread of flu is incredibly fast right now in our town. It’s also one of the most hard-hitting flu seasons I have seen. Symptoms are severe. Fevers are lasting for days. The coughing is non-stop.

🚌Schools are back in session next week so here are some helpful tips to keep you, your child, and school staff safe!

-if your child is sick (fever 100.5 or greater, persistent cough, vomiting or diarrhea) KEEP THEM HOME.

-a simple runny nose without other symptoms is not likely to be the Flu. Flu A (the most common one in Grayson right now) comes with a fever MOST of the time. Body aches also seem to be a common symptom.

-stay home until symptoms have resolved. You need to be fever free WITHOUT medication for 24 hours before you return to work/school.

-Remind school age kids to wash hands and sanitize frequently throughout the day! Make sure they are eating right and getting plenty of sleep. This is our bodies number 1 defense against viruses.

-help your child’s teacher by providing hand santizer, tissues, and chlorox wipes. This keeps the whole class (including the teacher) from catching viruses. I cant stress this enough!

-if your child develops SEVERE muscle pain, particulary in the legs…..and is refusing to walk, please take them to the ER. This needs immediate attention (and labs.)

Flu A is spreading fast in Grayson. 😷

-typical symptoms are a high fever, cough, congestion, severe body aches.

-most rapid tests will not catch the Flu until 24+ hours after symptoms start.

-if you have a fever, you are likely contagious (even if you have not tested positive yet). This is important to remember during holiday get togethers!

-this strain of flu is rough. Average fever can last 5 + days.
