We said “See You Later” today at Mel Orr’s memorial service at Rosewood Memorial Garden. Yes, there were lots of tears, but also smiles and laughter while sharing fond Mel Memories on a beautiful mid-February morning.

Mel, you will never be far from our thoughts, prayers and our hearts. Rest easy, our brother.

Things are about to get loud and energized for Storm Basketball and Cheer Teams as the Special Olympics West Regional Cheerleading and Basketball Tournament draws closer at Great Bend High School Panther Activity Center. This exciting event takes place Feb. 21.

Fourteen volunteer positions still remain for the tourney, ranging from Officiating, Scorebook, to Individual Skills Aide.

Rosewood folks got the opportunity to learn about the hobby of Model Railroading when they visited the Golden Belt Model Railroad & Slot Car Racing in downtown Great Bend last month.

Thank you to GBMRA members for taking the time to let us experience their world.

GBMRA is open to the public on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 1 to 5 p.m. at 1405 Main Street, if you are interested in checking out a cool Model Railroad experience.

Rosewood Miracle Workers AKTION Club celebrated its Christmas party last Friday, Dec. 5. Members were treated to a festive lunch. Then it was on to fun games and participation in a gift exchange.

Congratulations to Amanda Hammond, Rosewood Director of Services. She will be recognized this evening (Nov. 7) as a Great Bend Tribune “20 Under 40” Award Recipient.

This award honors “outstanding young professionals who are shaping the future of Central Kansas;” and those who “exemplify excellence in leadership, career achievement, and community involvement.”

Amanda certainly fits those award descriptions. She’s been working as a direct support professional, helping people with disabilities ever since she was a young adult. She also serves as Local Program Coordinator of Storm Special Olympics, where she has volunteered as a coach and board member for more than 15 years.

We hope that you enjoy your flowers, Amanda. Recognition Well Deserved!!! 👏 😊

All we want for Christmas is a freshly stained finish! Our folks at Rosewood Gallery are hard at work crafting Holiday orders! Today, Nov. 6, we were giving furniture pieces fresh coats of stain and getting those pieces sealed!
