We want our community to be aware of an important change that may impact individuals struggling with substance use.

Beginning July 1, 2026, Kratom products will become illegal in Kansas under new state law. While the law does not officially take effect until July, many local v**e shops are already reporting that products are no longer available—and we are already hearing from individuals experiencing difficult withdrawal symptoms.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please know: help is available, and you are not alone. 💚

Our Substance Use and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) teams are prepared to help guide individuals through the process of seeking support and treatment.

Services may include:
✔ Substance Use evaluations
✔ Medication consultations
✔ Recovery support
✔ Care coordination
✔ MAT services when clinically appropriate

If you are already a client and need support, please contact us and ask to connect with our Substance Use team. If you are not currently a client, we can help guide you through the intake process and next steps.

Most importantly: reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not failure. Recovery is possible, and support is here.

📞 If you need help, contact The Center to learn more about available services or come in during our open access times.

Why do events like Wild About Wellness and HopeFest matter? 💚

Because mental health support doesn’t only happen in an office or therapy room.
Sometimes it starts through connection, community, laughter, creativity, education, or simply feeling less alone.

At The Center, we believe creating spaces where people can come together matters. Spaces where:
🌿 Families can learn healthy coping skills together
🎨 Artists can share stories of healing, struggle, resilience, and hope
🎶 Communities can gather around music, food, entertainment, and connection
💚 Recovery and mental health conversations become more visible and less stigmatized
🫶 People feel welcomed, included, and supported

That’s exactly why we’re so excited for our two upcoming community events:

🦁 Wild About Wellness — June 18 at the Brit Spaugh Zoo
A fun, family-focused evening filled with interactive wellness activities, bounce houses, animal experiences, community resources, games, and more.

🌟 HopeFest 2026 — September 19 in Downtown Great Bend
A full-day community event centered around recovery, hope, mental health awareness, su***de prevention, remembrance, art, music, comedy, food, and connection.

These events are only possible because of community support and involvement.

We’re currently looking for:
🎨 Artists for the HopeFest Art Gallery
🤝 Sponsors and community partners
🛍 Vendors and participants
💚 Community members willing to help us spread hope and awareness

If you’d like to get involved, sponsor, participate, submit artwork, or learn more, visit:

Together, we can continue building a community where stigma ends and hope begins.

When severe weather is on the horizon, preparation matters. 🌩️🚗

A big thank you to our Transportation Director, Michael Shook, for coordinating and facilitating the safe storage of our company vehicles ahead of the potential storms. From making sure vehicles are protected to helping keep our staff prepared to continue serving the community, it’s another example of the behind-the-scenes work that helps keep The Center running smoothly.

We appreciate the dedication of team members like Michael who step up before the storm — literally. 💚

There’s so much more happening in groups like this than just baking dessert. 💚

Our adult cooking groups help build confidence, independence, routine, social connection, and everyday life skills—all things that play an important role in mental wellness and recovery.

For many individuals, these groups create opportunities to:
🍪 Practice daily living skills
💬 Build social connections
🧠 Reduce isolation and anxiety
🙌 Gain confidence through accomplishment
💚 Experience support in a safe and encouraging environment

And honestly… sharing food and laughter together doesn’t hurt either. 😊

A big shoutout to our amazing case manager Becky Byers for facilitating this group and helping create meaningful experiences that support growth, healing, and connection for the people we serve every day.

Also, can we talk about how good these chocolate chip cookie cheesecake bars look?! 👏🍫

If this upcoming weather has you feeling personally attacked… same. ☀️🥴

Heat affects more than just comfort levels. It can impact mood, sleep, stress, patience, and overall mental wellbeing.

So this is your official permission slip to:
🧊 Sit in front of a fan dramatically
🥤 Buy the oversized iced drink
😴 Go to bed early
🚫 Avoid unnecessary chaos
💚 Take care of yourself this week

What’s your go-to Kansas heat survival strategy?

Mother’s Day may have passed, but many of us still have the moms and mother figures in our lives front of mind this week. 💚

As Mental Health Awareness Month continues, it feels important to pause and recognize the emotional weight so many mothers carry every day—often quietly and without recognition.

Behind the school drop-offs, late-night worries, packed schedules, caregiving, and constant support for others are real people who also need care, rest, encouragement, and support.

To the moms doing their best through stress, anxiety, grief, burnout, recovery, or simply the overwhelming pace of life: you are not alone, and your mental health matters too.

We also recognize that this time of year can be complicated. For some, Mother’s Day brings grief, loss, strained relationships, or reminders of loved ones deeply missed. We hold space for that, too.

This month—and every month—we encourage our community to check in on the caregivers, supporters, and mothers around us with the same compassion they so freely give to others. 🌷

This week, we recognize and thank the correctional officers who serve our communities with professionalism, resilience, and compassion every single day. 💙

Correctional officers often work in some of the most challenging environments while balancing safety, crisis response, structure, and human connection — responsibilities that can carry a heavy emotional toll.

At The Center, we’re grateful to partner with local facilities through programs like our Stepping Up Jail Program, which helps connect individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges to support, treatment, and resources both during incarceration and as they transition back into the community.

Meaningful change happens when communities work together — and correctional staff are an important part of that effort.

To all correctional officers in our communities:
Thank you for the work you do, the patience you show, and the difference you make every day.

💚 Mental Health Check-In 💚

How are you… really doing?

Not the automatic “I’m fine.”
Not the rushed answer.
The real answer.

Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that checking in with ourselves — and each other — matters.

So today, we want to hear from YOU:
👇 In ONE word, how are you feeling today?

We’ll start:
🌱 Hopeful.

No explanations needed. No judgment here.
Just a reminder that whatever you’re carrying, you don’t have to carry it alone.

And if someone you know needs this reminder too, share this post with them. 💚

New law. Same mission: saving lives.

Laura Kelly has signed House Bill 2250—making it possible to use expired Narcan (naloxone) in emergency overdose situations.

Why this matters:

🟢 Narcan saves lives.
🟢 Time matters in an overdose.
🟢 Now, even expired doses can be used when it’s all you have.

This change removes barriers and gives more people the chance to act in a critical moment.

💚 At The Center’s Substance Use Program, we offer education on how to recognize an overdose and use Narcan.

You can purchase Narcan locally at stores like Walmart, Walgreens, and Dillons—
or stop by The Center and talk directly with Genoa Healthcare Pharmacy about getting Narcan.

📩 Have questions or want to learn how to use it? Reach out—we’re here to help.

Already requested one and still waiting? Don’t worry—we’re on our way!
