You’re allowed to be picky about your therapist. It’s one of the first discussions I have with all prospective clients. It’s that important.

My unpopular opinion:
Trauma isn’t rare.
It’s human.

Trauma isn’t just big, obvious events.
It’s anything that overwhelmed your nervous system and didn’t get fully processed.

Which means you can be:
• high-functioning
• successful
• “doing fine on paper”
…and still living in survival mode.

If you’ve ever thought, “I know better—so why do I still react this way?”
That’s not a character flaw.
That’s your nervous system doing its job.

Healing isn’t about digging up the past for fun.
It’s about bringing unconscious patterns into awareness—
so old wounds aren’t quietly running your life.

You’re not broken.
Your body adapted.
And it can learn something new. 💛

When I set out to become a therapist, I didn’t just want an office—I wanted to rebrand therapy itself. Think less “sterile waiting room,” more “luxury Airbnb where your feelings check in too.”

The vision? A space that feels like home, where clients feel cared for the moment they walk in. And while the actual space is still in the hands of the building permit gods, the mental blueprints are looking fabulous.

In my work with people pleasers, we talk about the pressure of always being the one who keeps things calm.

For many, it started in childhood:
💬 walking on eggshells to “”balance”” the chaos
💬 consoling adults (when your own nervous system was dysregulated)

The hard truth is: peacekeeping doesn’t always mean peace-feeling.

Sometimes, it means you learned to prioritize others’ comfort over your own clarity.

It doesn’t always look like a big aha moment (though those happen too!). Sometimes the signs are subtle — like pausing before reacting, catching your inner critic mid-sentence, or finally saying no without guilt.

Healing is rarely linear, but if you notice these shifts, you’re moving in the right direction. 💚

Research shows teens who spend regular, quality time with family have higher self-esteem, better coping skills, and stronger problem-solving abilities. 💪
The magic? 💬 Talking openly—about challenges and how you overcame them. When parents model resilience, teens learn they can handle hard things too.
I’ve found that creating custom tools and worksheets for my clients is far better than trying to find them elsewhere! This BINGO card can be a fun way to engage your child or pre-teen with the goal of having intentional quality time and quality conversation.
