Stress can manifest in many ways, including physical, mental, and behavioral symptoms. The stress response is a “freeze” response where you seem paralyzed but are actually very agitated. It is not uncommon with stress to avoid, suppress or deny your feelings. But it is helpful to allow yourself to feel. Start by observing how you physically feel and from there learn to feel your feelings mentally and emotionally.

Tips for Eating Mindfully and Intuitively
1. Prepare - Cooking for yourself is the best way to prepare your body to eat mindfully.
2. Put away electronics.
3. Sit down - Give yourself permission to enjoy the food in front of you.
4. Develop a mealtime ritual - Setting the table, or turning on some relaxing music.
5. Be still - Dedicate some time to silently enjoy the food.
6. Connect - When eating alone, connect to your mind and body.
7. Take in the food with all of your senses.
8. Listen to your body - Recognize when you have had enough to eat, or when you want more.

Are you looking for flavor and health benefits? Herbs provide flavor and may also offer several health benefits as well. There are a variety of herbs and spices widely available in our gardens and local markets.
Try making some herb salt. It’s easy to make! All you need is sea salt and your choice of herbs. Mix them in a food processor and then spread it onto a cookie sheet and let it dry overnight. Once dry, put it into your container and use it as you would regular salt.
