“It was a long journey. We got through it!”
Meet Nathania, referring to her breast reconstruction journey. Here is Nathania’s “Graduation Ceremony” on the day of her nipple tattoo by the incomparable @marnie_rustemeyer. 🎓
Thank you @beadingcancertogether for creating the “boobie necklaces” I gift my patients when we celebrate their recovery! 🎁
Proceeds from the sale of each necklace benefits @breastreconstructionorg, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization informing, empowering, and supporting individuals facing mastectomy and reconstruction. DM @beadingcancertogether to order yours for $32 (shipping included).
Drop a heart to help us celebrate with Nathania! 💖

Using a sketch pad, here is prepectoral conversion surgery explained - when breast implants are moved from under the chest muscle to over the chest muscle.
These are snippets from my full IG Live with @mycancerchic and @airsfounsation, which reviews everything you need know to understand the rationale behind prepectoral conversion surgery.
Happy to answer any questions in comments.

Always striving to do better for our patients.
As you point out @dana_donofree, screening tests are important. And the right screening is even more important. So, yes, the right question should be:
“When was your last chest screening?”

“It’s a game changer. It really is.“
My patient Susan, three months after prepectoral conversion. 💪
After bilateral mastectomies and subpectoral implant breast reconstruction, Susan had breast asymmetry with implant animation causing tightness and pain.
After converting her implants from under the muscle (UTM) to over the muscle (OTM), Susan started to feel better immediately after surgery.
Without any animation deformity, she now looks better too.
For some women, revision surgery with prepectoral conversion from UTM to OTM is done to improve appearance. For others it’s done to improve symptoms of pain or discomfort. In Susan’s case, her revision surgery succeeded in doing both! 🙌
