Bilateral nipple-sparing mastectomies and staged tissue expander implant reconstruction.
‌
Years after chemotherapy and radiation treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma, this patient felt a breast lump on self exam. Diagnosed with breast cancer she chose bilateral mastectomies and reconstruction.
‌
Without ideal flap options in a thin woman, tissue expander implant reconstruction can provide a fuller volume breast reconstruction when desired.
‌
With nipple-sparing and nerve-sparing mastectomy approaches today, hidden scars can frequently be placed below the breast at the first stage. Expansion in the office allows patients to decide when they are happy with their breast size and ready for stage two implant exchange, done as an ambulatory procedure.
