10 day history of painful swelling and redness right hallux. Pediatric patient had presented to urgent care after telling g his mother he stepped on a pin at a friends house. Urgent care gave oral antibiotic which helped decrease swelling and local infection. After finishing course of antibiotics symptoms recurred. On questioning patient he states that he removed pin in its entirety at the time of injury. X-RAYS CONFIRM RETAINED FOREIGN BODY. Under local anesthesia remaining portion of pin was successfully retrieved. Patient has since resolved infection.
