I've personally coached over 500 medical weight loss patients in the past 3 years.
Want to know the difference between those who succeed long-term and those who don't?
It's not willpower. It's not motivation. It's not even the medication.
The successful ones understand this: Weight loss isn't about food. It's about your relationship WITH food.
The patients who transform their lives (not just their bodies) do these 3 things differently:
1. They stop treating food as the enemy
Most people come to me with decades of diet trauma. They've been on every plan, tried every "solution." The successful ones learn that food isn't good or bad - it's fuel, comfort, celebration, and sometimes a coping mechanism. Once they understand WHY they eat, everything changes.
2. They address the emotional stuff
We can prescribe the most effective GLP-1 medication available, but if someone is eating because they're stressed, lonely, or using food to cope with trauma? The weight comes back. The successful patients do the inner work alongside the medical intervention.
3. They think in years, not weeks
The "quick fix" mentality is what got them stuck in the first place. Successful patients understand this is about creating a new relationship with their body that lasts decades, not just getting ready for summer.
Here's what I tell every new patient: "Better living through chemistry still requires better living."
The medication gives you the space to do the real work. But you still have to do the work.
