This past Monday, we had the honor of celebrating our CHE graduates at our annual Spring Reception. We proudly recognized their hard work, dedication, and perseverance as they become the first in their families to earn a college degree.
To our graduates—your journey is a testament to your strength, resilience, and commitment to your dreams. Meet CHE’s new Assistant Director!

My name is Brandon Lagunas, and I was born and raised in Greeley, Colorado. I am thrilled to be part of CHE! TRIO programs have always been a significant part of my life journey. In middle and high school, I was involved with the Greeley Dream Team and GEAR UP, which supported me in pursuing higher education, ultimately leading me to UNC. While at UNC, I stumbled upon a CHE workshop by accident and was accepted into the program, and the rest is history!

Although my degree is in criminal justice, my background is rooted in education. I’ve served as a restorative justice interventionist with Weld County District 6, as a Program Coordinator for Partners Mentoring Youth, and as an Academic Advisor for the Monfort College of Business. Now, I’m honored to work as the Assistant Director of CHE.

Outside of work, you’ll find me hanging out with family and friends, collecting sneakers, hanging out with my 9-year-old pit-bull Bella, playing ball, listening to music, and rooting for the Denver Nuggets!

As we start the Spring semester, we would also like to officially introduce our new CHE director!

“My name is Flora Powells and I am the new Center for Human Enrichment Director. I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Colorado State University and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. I consider myself a TRIO lifer and have been a part of TRIO programs in some way since 6th grade. I have worked at CHE for over ten years and am excited to continue to help first-generation college students on their journey’s in this new role.”
