Happy Earth Day. 🌍🌿

The earth doesn't rush its seasons. Flowers don't bloom faster because we want them to. Rivers don't run on anyone's schedule but their own.

And yet — the earth is always progressing. Quietly. Steadily. At the pace of peace.

Sound familiar?

Today is a reminder that rest, rhythm, and deep roots are not weaknesses. They're the foundation of everything that grows.

Take a breath today. Step outside. Feel the ground beneath you.

And when you're ready to come back into your body — I'll be here.

💡 Self-care between sessions

Can't come in every week?

Here's how to maintain your progress between massages:

🧘 10 minutes of gentle stretching daily
💧 Stay hydrated (especially if your job is physical)
🌡️ Use heat on chronically tight areas (neck, lower back)
🛶 Take intentional breaks from screens
😴 Prioritize 7–8 hours of sleep

Massage does the deep work. These habits protect it.

As you may know, I am in the process of becoming certified in buccal massage. After viewing the syllabus for the month-long course, I found that, although this course is fantastic, I wanted to learn more than what would be taught.

I searched out some additional opportunities early this month, and completed one of those last night. I’ve learned some awesome techniques that will work well with the buccal massage course that I will finish up next week.

I also started another class last night on Japanese facial massage that looks pretty promising as well.

I’m going all in on learning the most to help you with your jaw/face tension and pain.

You might have seen the recent video of LeAnn Rimes where she experienced an emotional or somatic release during intraoral work. Moments like that can spark curiosity about how the body stores and processes stress.

Somatic release is when the body physically releases stored stress or emotion. It can show up as tears, shaking, deep breaths, laughter, or a strong sense of relief when the nervous system finally shifts into a safer, more relaxed state.

Our bodies hold more than muscle tension. The nervous system, fascia, and breath are all connected to our emotional experience. When tissue softens and the nervous system moves toward “rest and digest,” people sometimes notice unexpected emotions, memories, or a sense of release.

In buccal massage, we work with the muscles of the face, jaw, and mouth…areas that carry a lot of emotion and often hold stress from clenching, grinding, or simply holding it together through the day. When these deeply held patterns soften, clients may feel:
• deep relaxation
• emotional release
• easier breathing and jaw movement
• a sense of nervous system reset

Not everyone experiences a somatic release, and that’s completely normal. But when the body finally feels safe enough to let go, it can be a powerful reminder of how connected our physical and emotional health really are.

Progress at the pace of peace. ✨

💡 Perimenopause Wellness Tip: Don't ignore your muscles.

Declining estrogen affects collagen production and muscle recovery. You may notice:

🔹 More soreness after activity
🔹 Joints that feel stiffer in the morning
🔹 Tension that doesn't release like it used to

Regular therapeutic massage — especially with assisted stretching — helps maintain flexibility, reduce inflammation, and keep your body moving well through every phase of life.

Your body at 40+ is still capable of remarkable things. Let's support it. 💪

Think of your body like a tent.

The skin is the outer fabric.
The bones are the poles.
And the fascia… is the system of guide wires that holds everything together.

In the image on the left, the guide wires are uneven, tangled, and pulling with different tensions. The tent collapses, twists, and loses its structure.
On the right, the guide wires are balanced and evenly distributed—the tent stands tall, stable, and supported with ease.

This is exactly how the human body works.

Fascia is a continuous web that surrounds and connects every muscle, bone, nerve, and organ. When there is restriction—whether from injury, inflammation, repetitive stress, or even early life strain—the “tension lines” in the body become uneven.

This creates compression, torque, and misalignment… just like the leaning tent.

Over time, this can show up as:
• Chronic pain
• Postural imbalances
• Limited mobility
• Nervous system dysregulation

Myofascial Release works with these “guide wires.”

Instead of forcing the poles (bones) into position, MFR gently releases and rebalances the fascial system—allowing the body to reorganize itself naturally from the inside out.

When the tension is more evenly distributed, the body doesn’t have to fight gravity anymore.

It finds support.
It finds alignment.
It finds ease.

You’re not just working on muscles…
You’re restoring the entire tension system that holds you together.

Can massage help with hot flashes? 🌡️

Research suggests yes — here's why:

Hot flashes are often triggered or intensified by stress and an overactive sympathetic nervous system (your "fight or flight" response).

Massage activates the parasympathetic nervous system — the "rest and digest" state — which can help reduce the frequency and intensity of hot flashes over time.

It also supports better sleep, which is often disrupted during perimenopause and makes every other symptom feel worse.

Small steps. Real progress. 🌿
