Society tells survivors to stay silent. But speaking up—whether to a friend, a therapist, or even just yourself—is an act of courage.

Research is on your side! Sometimes, finding the words to describe what happened to us can be too painful and sometimes impossible. Instead of jumping straight into talking and becoming frustrated and disheartened we propose a gentle approach. Start with expressive art, expressive movement, singing, and dancing. These methods can help open us gently to process what has happened.
