Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is a rare neurological disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks the peripheral nerves. It can cause rapid muscle weakness and tingling in the arms and legs, difficulty walking, and in severe cases, paralysis. For many patients, the onset is sudden and life-changing.
But recovery is possible — especially with early, intensive rehabilitation.
Recently, we had the privilege of caring for a patient, Hannah, who came to Green Bay Rehabilitation Hospital barely able to stand. Like many individuals diagnosed with GBS, she faced sudden weakness and uncertainty about what the future would hold.
Through focused, interdisciplinary therapy — including physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing care, and physician oversight — Hannah worked tirelessly every single day.
Just 18 days later, she walked out of our hospital to return home. 💙🎉
Her story is a powerful reminder that:
✨ Early intervention matters
✨ Intensive therapy makes a difference
✨ The human body is capable of incredible healing
✨ Determination, paired with the right care team, changes outcomes
We are so proud of Hannah and honored to have been part of her recovery journey. Stories like hers are why we do what we do every day.
If you or a loved one is facing recovery after a serious neurological condition, know that progress is possible.
