Dry is a very common disease and you may have experienced some symptoms throughout your life.
Both men and women can get dry eye. However, it is more common in women and over the age of 50. Some factors of dry eye may include: your lifestyle choices, electronic devices, allergies, autoimmune diseases, environment (dry, humid, or windy), previous surgical procedures, and even certain medications can play a factor.
As people have more birthdays, you tend to make fewer tears. With fewer tears, it causes your eyes to become more irritable, inflamed, itchy, and can cause pain. It may even cause blurry vision.
There are ways to help your eyes! Make sure you stay hydrated throughout the day, doing the 20-20-20 rule, wear eye protection, make sure to not wear your contacts all day every day, and talk to your eye care provider about other treatment options. Ask your provider about treatments such as punctual plugs, artificial tear eye drops, prescription medications, and in house procedures that can help manage and treat Dry Eye Disease.
