Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Wisconsin… where we celebrated with a blizzard instead of a parade 🍀 ❄️

If you’re in the Midwest, you know exactly what I mean.

One day it’s almost spring…
The next, you’re digging your car out of what feels like Storm Elsa’s encore.

We’ve spent the last couple of days:
• Shoveling (again)
• Rescheduling (again)
• Laughing a little so we don’t cry 😅

And honestly — it’s such a good reminder of something I see in both life and business:

You can’t control the storm.
But you can control how you respond to it.

In my clinic, that’s flexibility.
In business, that’s leadership.
At home, that’s patience (and maybe a second cup of coffee).

And just like Wisconsin weather…
Our health, our schedules, and our seasons of life don’t always follow a predictable pattern either.

We adjust.
We support.
We keep showing up.

Even if we’re doing it in boots instead of spring shoes today.

Also — if your nervous system feels a little like this weather lately… you’re not alone. Sudden shifts (weather or life) always have an impact.

Wishing you a warm, safe, and maybe slightly less snowy St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ ❄️

Cortisol IS a Fat-Storing Hormone. 🛑

Stress is not just emotional.
It’s hormonal.

Chronic cortisol elevation:
• Disrupts sleep
• Promotes abdominal fat
• Increases insulin resistance
• Increases cravings

In perimenopause especially, your stress buffer lowers.

Which means the same stress now has a bigger 📈 physical effect.

If your weight gain came after:
• Life stress
• Burnout
• Family load
• Sleep loss

Cortisol may be driving it.

1. Address nervous system load first. Chiropractic
2. Prioritize sleep. Mattress + Pillow
3. Beat the stress. Sound bed sesh
4. Clean up your diet. Ditch the sugars

Want to know if cortisol is impacting you? Take the menopause quiz.

If your stomach feels:
• Tight
• Protruding
• Almost balloon-like

It might not be “fat.”

It could be gut dysbiosis, candida, parasites, or poor digestion.

Inflammation + gas can mimic weight gain.

This also:
• Increases sugar cravings
• Disrupts estrogen clearance
• Slows metabolism

We often start with gut restoration before aggressive fat loss.

Because bloating and inflammation make everything harder.
But what IF your hormones were to blame?

If this sounds familiar, comment “GUT.” Or take the quiz in my bio.

Most women in midlife ( late 30s, 40s early 50s) are undernourished, not overeating.

When you:
• Eat nutrient-dense food
• Support digestion
• Regulate insulin
• Preserve muscle
• Balance cortisol

Fat loss becomes smoother.

Yes, calories matter.

But hormones determine where those calories go.

Starving yourself signals danger to the body.

Balanced hormones signal safety.

And your metabolism responds accordingly.

*Save this if you’re done with crash dieting.
**DM if you need support and resources that actually work.

Midsection weight gain is one of the most common complaints I hear.

Here’s what’s happening:

Lower progesterone
Higher stress hormones
Slower muscle turnover
Insulin dysregulation

Your body becomes protective.

Stress + declining hormones = fat storage around the abdomen.

Cutting more calories often makes cortisol spike more — and the belly holds tighter.

Instead, we focus on:
• Nervous system regulation
• Blood sugar balance
• Muscle support
• Hormone metabolism

That’s how we change it sustainably.

If your weight shifted after 40, take the menopause quiz in my bio. It helps identify what system needs support first.

PS- it’s a full moon 🌕 tonight. If your systems are off the hook - then we definitely need to chat ASAP!

If you’re eating well.
Moving your body.
Trying to stay “disciplined.”

And your weight still won’t budge…

This is not a character flaw.

In perimenopause and menopause, hormones shift rapidly:
• Estrogen fluctuates
• Progesterone drops
• Cortisol rises
• Insulin becomes more sensitive

Your body is not broken.
It’s adapting.

The solution isn’t more restriction.
It’s smarter support.

In our clinic, we focus on hormone-driven fat loss — the kind that actually lasts.

Comment “HORMONES” and I’ll send you the menopause quiz to see what may be driving your symptoms.
