The Canary Fund is celebrating 5 years of impact!
Join The Canary Fund in celebrating this milestone by making a gift to their "5 for 5" year-end campaign! Whether you give $5, $50, $500, or any amount in $5 increments, you are supporting the next community change-makers like our very own Dr. Gallagher’s daughter! Below are some of the visionaries and their projects that The Canary Fund has helped get off the ground with their amazing grant program:
Delaney Gallagher
Project: Long John's for St. John's
One of our earliest recipients, Delaney was a 15-year old sophomore at Notre Dame Academy who cared about the issue of homelessness. She decided to do something to help the clients at St. John’s Homeless Shelter. COVID restrictions at the time meant that the shelter might take fewer clients. Delaney, supported by her father, took up a campaign called “Long John’s for St. John’s” a project she maintained throughout her entire high school career.
Ruthanne and Gene Tiser
Project: Game Day/Alzheimer’s Awareness
Initiated and led by volunteers, this program is held at the Green Bay YWCA and helps meet the social needs of caregivers and people with dementia by connecting individuals and families experiencing memory loss to various community supports and resources. One of those supportive opportunities is hosting regular game days.
Long Vue
Project: Hmong Tutoring Project
This project provides a financial stipend to Hmong high school students who tutor Hmong middle school students. By doing so, they help facilitate the younger students' increased academic success, as well as positive social transitions into high school. Many of the high school tutors work outside of school to provide financial support for their families. Receiving a stipend for tutoring is both a positive and welcome opportunity.
