Great news!

As one of the co-chairs of the Brown County Coalition for Change, we are thrilled to see months of planning come to fruition with the launch of a public health vending machine in downtown Green Bay.

Located outside the Greater Green Bay YMCA's Ferguson Family location on Pine Street, this community resource dispenses Narcan nasal spray and fentanyl test strips anonymously and at no cost.

By providing practical and compassionate access to life-saving tools, this vending machine aims to prevent overdoses, promote safety, and reach vulnerable people who may otherwise lack trust in traditional health care systems.

🗓 World Hepatitis Day – July 28
🌍 Theme for 2025: Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down

Viral hepatitis affects millions and is a leading cause of severe liver disease and liver cancer. Chronic Hepatitis B and C can go unnoticed for years—but they are preventable, treatable, and in the case of Hepatitis C, even curable.

This year’s theme calls for urgent action to remove the financial, social, and systemic barriers—like stigma—that prevent people from getting the care they need.

💉 Testing, treatment, vaccination, harm reduction, and safe practices must be accessible for everyone.
We must act now to eliminate hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030.

🎉 Big congratulations to three of our amazing NEWCC team members who were awarded scholarships last week through the N.E.W. Community Clinic Scholarship Program! These scholarships will support their continued education in the healthcare field. 💙

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Gail Carels, our retired volunteer physician, for her inspiring vision in creating this opportunity—and to the generous donors who help make it possible.

We're proud to invest in those who care for our community!

🧠 July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month 🧠

This month shines a light on the unique challenges faced by racial and ethnic minority communities in accessing mental health care.

➡️ In 2020, fewer than 1 in 2 African American adults received mental health care.
➡️ In 2018, Asian Americans were 60% less likely to seek treatment than non-Hispanic Whites.

Barriers like stigma, lack of insurance, and limited access to culturally competent care continue to impact these communities.

Let’s break the stigma and work toward equitable mental health support for all. 💚 for more information: https://www.fda.gov/consumers/knowledge-and-news-women-owh-blog/national-minority-mental-health-awareness-month
