Diwali.
Yes it is here!
Like every year
We light the lamp
We eat sweets
We pray.
Every year Diwali returns
My faith renews.
The world will surely improve
It's ways.
The battle of good over evil
Victory over darkness.

Centuries have come and gone
Still relevant today,
Diwali lives on.
The hope, the spirit, the joy
Let's never forget,
The true meaning of Diwali.

Wishing everyone a peaceful, healthy and happy Deepawali.

As Nephrologists, we spend a lot of time in the ICU.
This is my ode to the ICU I wrote a long while ago but was reminded of again today.

Death often visits
these halls.
Sadness and tears
Hope and prayers
emanate from these walls.

Trauma sepsis overdose
Heart attacks and strokes
Multi organ failure
ventilators and pressors.

Crash cart on alert
Balloon pumps
and ECMO support
Dialysis and CRRT
One by one or all together
Pulled from a toolkit

There is nothing
they don't see.
Every life precious
Every minute matters,
They work relentlessly
Our ICU doc and nurse.
