Day 374: Had a really productive day of therapies. She was a little hesitant when we started but she soon got into the swing of things and worked really hard.

Audrey made lots of sounds this afternoon. Please continue prayers for her finding her voice and getting into speech therapy. The Therapist has been arguing with insurance company to get this going.

1 John 5:14-15: "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him".

Day 373: it’s been a fast and furious last few days and we all needed a break. So I stayed home to regroup and Audrey and Salina had a pretty relaxing day. Of course for Salina and caring for Audrey is always a 24/7 commitment. Things still have to be done, meds, nutrition, oral care, dressing and then this evening shower time. Even though they had chill time, she did manage a little time on the vibration plate. But both found time to kick back and watch a movie together.

Please continue your prayers for all of Audrey’s needs.

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. Day 372:

Update:

First off We want to thank everyone that prayed she sleep well last night. She did and was so alert this morning and helpful as we got her ready for the day! We were not as rushed getting out the door. Audrey made it really easy and smooth, we were ready and she had a little time just to chill before we got her in the van to go! Praise the Lord!

We made it to her appt on time, got her checked in and had literally no wait time before we got called back. We had the best tech, Steve, who was so kind and gentle with her. There was no rushing but he got the cranial ct scan done in a timely manner and she was so calm and relaxed.

We love it when we have medical professionals that treat her as any of us would want to be treated!!

May the God who gives endurance and

As you may remember, Audrey broke her jaw in her wreck, and it has yet to be reset, or even attended to by any medical professional. There were so many other injuries specifically her TBI that has been the greater issue. I say this because for the longest she has been unable to open her mouth; however we have seen vast improvement over the last six months and with some direction and encouragement it’s becoming easier at times. But she has still been unable to make chewing motions but we have been diligently working on it. Today though she made some big leaps in this area . You can now just gently place your finger on her chin and she will make the chewing motion. Most everything has to be re-trained and re-learned, but we are getting there. Hallelujah!

So please keep your prayers going for:

2. Alertness, awareness .
3. progress in her swallowing
4. Speech therapy and being able to use her voice
5. Loosening of her extremities.
6. Movement in hand and fingers

Day 371:

Yesterday left our girl exhausted; however she evidently did not sleep much last night. Salina said it was midnight before she went to sleep and she was wide awake at 5:30 am . Needless to say she was kind of outa sorts, but it was shower/ shampoo day!!

Did manage a session on the vibration plate as well as some stretching, face massage, worked on some swallowing using cotton candy and ice chips.

Please be praying that she gets a good nights sleep, she has an appointment to have ct scan tomorrow ordered by her neurosurgeon.

Day 370: oh what a day! Audrey’s appt with new ENT went well. She was able to get a good look down her trac and also through her nose with the scope. From what she could see everything looked pretty good. However she did review all of Audrey’s very extensive chart regarding the past year and she wants to have a ct scan done first of her lungs before she will proceed with trac replacement. We are glad that she wants to be thorough since it was the original trac placement that caused so much damage. So now we wait until radiologist gets an appt scheduled.

Her bestie met us at OU physicians and after appt. we all went to Norman did a little shopping and hanging out.

Headed back to Audrey’s home and we got within 25 miles had a blowout. PTL we weren’t on Interstate and Salina was able to veer safely off the road and into a clearing. Called Rodney and he came to where we were and changed out tire. We praise the Lord for keeping us all safe!

Day 369: Audrey had a typical Sunday day of rest. Salina did get her up in her wheelchair so that she could visit with Kash and Payton, but……she knew it was Sunday and chose sleep over dinner with family. Lol. It’s all good though this is her day for sleep and refreshing.

Tomorrow trip to Ou Health to see ENT for trach replacement. So keep her in your prayers she gets a little anxious when we go for appts especially when they are hospital like environments.

Philippians 4: 6-7

Verse 6: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God".
Verse 7: "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus".

Day 368:

Isaiah 43:18-19 is a Bible passage that encourages people to look forward, not to the past.
18 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland..”

The verses are a message of hope and a reminder that God provides a path forward, even in desolate or difficult circumstances.

We are so looking forward to all good things to come in Audrey’s healing and recovery! We only look back over the past year to remind us of how far Audrey has come and to remind us that God is in control and he is directing this journey!

Today we spent the majority of the day in the floor! Spent a great amount of time on her incline mat, doing stretches , rolling and working on all over body therapies. Was also time for self care day of clipping nails, shaving legs lol and more facial massage.

Had some music therapy and some chill time before shower/shampoo. These days are so much easier than when Audrey first came home in July. In fact so much, is easier and not so stressful as it once was. We just praise the Lord continually.

Audrey has 2 appts coming up this next week, so please keep her in your prayers.

Day 367: Our girl charging into 2026 full of vim and vigor! She had full afternoon and evening, session on vibration plate; worked on arms and shoulders quite a bit with stretching, she also continues to move her arm, hand and fingers. We did facial therapy using her new led light/vibration facial massager she got for Christmas. She really like it, smiling the whole time. Worked on her chewing and swallowing using ice chips and dippin dots.
We relaxed some and watched a movie, as well as spent some time outside this afternoon and evening. The weather was wonderful and she enjoyed it. She played with Hank ( her dog) and practiced sitting up away from her backrest, holding her head up. At one point she held herself upright for 1 1/2 minutes.

We are all excited for this new year and Audrey has so much to look forward to!!

Day 366: Isaiah 41:10 is a comforting Bible verse where God promises, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand,". This is the verse we claimed in the beginning of Audrey’s journey. A dear friend sent it to me this morning as the verse of the day! How appropriate that as we go into this new year of Audrey’s journey we will claim it again, over and over again.

We are all excited for new things that will be happening this year in Audrey’s healing and recovery journey.

We praise the Lord that she had visit from her Bestie, Yasmin and her boyfriend Angelo today. Audrey got to show off a bit and show them all the fruits of her hard work.

Again we are also reminded of how blessed Audrey is to have really true friends that have stood by her.

Be of good cheer and celebrate with us as we head in to this year full of anticipation for things to come.

Day 365 & 366
Happy new Year! And in 39 minutes it will be exactly 1 year to the day and time of Audrey’s horrific car accident . Though this has been a tough and challenging year I think Salina expressed it best in her personal post which I’ll copy and paste here:

As we sit here tonight, reflecting on the past year, we are reminded of the 365 days that have passed and the journey we've been on. Although it's hard to believe it's been a year, I'm grateful to have had this year. Things may look different now, but we're learning to adapt. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported Audrey during her recovery. Your prayers, visits, stories, and donations have meant so much to us. You've helped us be with her during the tough times, and we're forever grateful. Audrey's recovery has shown us her strength and determination, and we are so proud of her. Every brain injury recovery is unique, and we're trusting in God's plan and believing shes on the right path to recovery. We'll continue to support Audrey through her therapies and celebrate each litte improvement as a victory, knowing that God's plan is perfect. Thank you all again, and looking forward to a better and brighter year head!

Day 364: As usual for her, after a day of some major progress she’s typically spent. The amount of brain function and energy it takes is probably more than we can imagine, but true to her warrior spirit, she was up and at it this afternoon. It was shower day, and she showed her mom her ability to lift her arm turn her wrist and move her fingers, while we had her up in her shower chair.

We have all come a long way since that first independent living weekend at Craig’s. Shower days are not near as traumatic on Audrey or us as they once were! Lol

Audrey is becoming able to assist more in small ways, whether it’s lifting her head forward as mom shampoos her hair or holding the shower wand while we are washing her. It maybe little and simple things but for us all these things are HUGE. Today she sensed when she needed to lift her feet as we slid her chair across the tub. PTL!!!!

By the time we finished got her dried and dressed, back in bed to finish her eyelids were heavy and I had to leave. Hopefully she got back up, if not it’s okay. Her brain is still healing and the best time to do that is when sleeping.

We are so very proud of the strong determination and tenacity of our Warrior Princess. We know above all that it is by the power of the Lord that she’s come further than medical professionals ever thought possible.

Zephaniah 3:17: "The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing"

Thank you all for hanging tight with us and being a crucial part of her healing and recovery.

Day 363: What a wonderful, amazing and incredible couple of days! We are so blessed.

First yesterday was quite busy. We had our family Christmas and we are constantly reminded of all the great things that we’ve witnessed this year, and grateful that we got to have another Christmas with Audrey. Lots of love surrounded her all day. She was exhausted and finally fell asleep on us after the chaos of opening gifts.

However after resting most of this morning, she was certainly ready to get to work this afternoon.

Today for the first time I got to witness her shaking her head “No” even though it was at me she was telling no, it was exhilarating to see this intentional movement in her.

Secondly, while on the vibration plate, she started sitting up straight and holding her head up for longer periods of time than usual. The first amazing thing I thought of was that her brain is healing and allowing her to intentionally do more than one thing at a time.

Then as if that wasn’t enough she lifted her right arm, moved her hand and fingers some. This was so Huge!!!
After her 3rd time (once I was sure she was doing this intentional I called for Rodney to come see. (Salina was at work) We were both so shocked and amazed (and a bit emotional) however he did manage to video her fifth attempt.

I wished I had taken a picture of her at that time with that little smile of accomplishment splashed across her face.

We both agreed that we feel humbled and blessed to be able to witness this amazing progress!

Psalm 147:1: "Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting".

Thank you all for those wonderful prayers of healing for our girl, I’m certain those prayers offered up are drenched in faith believing!!!
