What exactly is an Independent Living Center?

It’s not a place you live.
It’s a place that meets people where they are.

Independent Living Centers are community-based organizations led by and for people with disabilities. Our role is simply this -- to listen, support, and help guide individuals by providing tools, resources, advocacy, and information so they can live the lives they choose.

At Options, independence looks different for everyone — and that’s exactly how it should be.

If you’re new here — welcome. And if you’ve been with us for a while — we’re glad you’re still here. 💙

Options is an Independent Living Center serving people with disabilities across 17 counties in Northeast Wisconsin.

We support people of all ages and disabilities to live with choice, dignity, and independence — whether that means access to equipment, help navigating services, home accessibility, advocacy, or simply knowing you’re not alone.

Independent living doesn’t mean doing everything by yourself.
It means having the freedom to make your own choices — with the right supports in place.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more about who we are, what we do, and the people and stories that make this work matter. Stay tuned and learn more about how we empower people with disabilities to live independent and productive lives!

🎉 How the Non-Gala Gala Looks Tonight

This is how Connie and Scott are celebrating the Non-Gala Gala — together at home, supporting a cause close to their hearts. 💛

Connie serves on our Board of Directors, and she and Scott also chose to donate in support of Options’ New Year’s Eve Non-Gala Gala. Their generosity helps strengthen independence, access, and connection for people with disabilities across our 17-county service area.

We’re deeply grateful for Connie’s leadership and for both Connie and Scott’s support. Because of donors like them, more possibilities are within reach.

Big thanks to our supporter for sending this in to share!💛

"I’m sitting in my pajamas with my slippers on, by the fire, attending the Non-Gala Gala for Options for Independent Living.

Please join me in this unconventional way of celebrating all that Options does for people with disabilities.

No new clothes to buy.
No babysitters to arrange.
No place you have to be on this beautiful, cold New Year’s Eve.

Just sit back in your pajamas and donate.
Thank you for supporting independence. 💛"
