8/28 Update: This week Gavin and I are headed to St Louis for a few appointments. Our appointments are on Wednesday. His health remains about the same, still dealing with the same issues as he has been. Having the energy to attend school was an issue this past week, so we laid low this weekend.

On Tuesday, we are flying to STL with our favorite pilot, Brooks Johnson, from Rock Springs, Wyoming. We met Brooks many years ago through the organization, Pilots for Christ International-Wyoming Chapter. PCI is an amazing organization that brings private pilots together with families who need assistance traveling for medical reasons. Brooks flew us from Wyoming to STL multiple times prior to Gavin’s first transplant, even hosting us in his home for a few days when we were snowed in!

We are truly blessed to have met Brooks and look forward to flying with him again!

It is with sadness that, a friend of this Organization and the father of Bobby Laird at Flightline LLC in Gillette, has passed on to his Mansion of Glory, and is riding and flying like never before. Flighline LLC has been a huge supporter of PCI-WY. We extend our condolences to the entire Laird family, the ranch and flying community of Ekalaka, MT.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT/Air Care Alliance

Our vision at Air Care Alliance is to maximize charitable aviation through organizations and pilots flying to serve the
needs of humanity.
In 2022, we will continue to strive to support public benefit flying among Volunteer Pilot Organizations wherever and whenever we can. We will also continue efforts to reach out to those pilots who currently do not fly for charitable purposes.
The charitable pilot is a very unique pilot. They have an intense passion to help others through aviation and are constantly searching for opportunities to utilize their skills and airplanes for charitable purposes whatever and wherever they may be. Some pilots focus primarily on one specific purposeful mission. Many other volunteer pilots enjoy seeking various opportunities to spread their time and donated flights to a variety of causes.
Every volunteer pilot has good reasons to do what they do to help others with aviation. I think most pilots feel very fortunate to possess the skills to fly and to have enough time and resources available to donate each and to make a difference in someone’s life.
Every charitable flight has an immediate reward for the pilot whether it’s helping those traveling for much needed medical treatment, saving animals for their future families, providing life saving medical supplies for those in need especially following tragic disasters, and the list goes on. Charitable aviation may not be for every pilot, but for those who do volunteer, it can become the primary reason they want to fly and fly often.
I firmly believe there are thousands of pilots nationwide who have not yet had the opportunity to help others with aviation in a consistent manner. Air Care Alliance will be doing all we can to connect with those pilots as a starting point and then guide them towards ACA member organizations and their missions. We believe these efforts will provide additional benefit and support for VPOs, for these emerging volunteer pilots and for all those recipients of the outstanding generosity that exists every day in charitable aviation.

Jim Hesseman, President
Air Care Alliance

Debbie Fantarella was a past member of PCI-WY Chapter….very sad news 😢

Hi everyone. This is Debbie Fantarella’s daughter, Amanda. I finally got into her phone. I'm sure most of you know and have read, but for the ones who havent...my amazing beautiful, sweet, caring momma has passed away from complications of covid. She went to be with Jesus on September 20th at 3:10 AM. She fought so so so hard to stay here with us but her fight was over and now she is reating peacefully. We are having her funeral at First Assembly of God Church on October 2nd. We will have a celebration of her life to follow at the Moose Lodge from 1-3. If you have any questions please contact me at 701-989-5295. I dont know how to work the facebook machine so I probably won't answer anyone on here cause I don't know how to. I just ask for some prayers for our family and all my mommas amazing friends..she loved you all dearly! Thank you 💔💔💔💔💔

A Message from Wyoming’s State Health Officer:

Hello,

Understandably, many of you may have questions about the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak situation. At the Wyoming Department of Health, we are closely monitoring the situation and sharing our recommendations.

At this time there are no reported cases in Wyoming and the risk to our residents from the disease remains low. Currently, we believe the risk for disease is primarily among travelers to other countries with community transmission. However, it is becoming increasingly likely that COVID-19 will eventually spread to our state.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses, some of which cause the common cold in people and others that circulate among animals. This is a new virus and new viruses need special attention. There are simply some things we don’t know about COVID-19 such as how easily it spreads and how many patients may experience severe illness, and there is no available vaccine.

However, the symptoms reported with this disease are familiar to all of us: fever, cough, and shortness of breath. We know there are common-sense steps that can help prevent these kinds of illnesses from spreading:
· Avoid close contact with sick people.
· While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible.
· Stay home if sick.
· Cover nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.
· Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs.
· Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub with at least 60 percent alcohol.

Coronavirus information and updates from our department can be found at https://health.wyo.gov/publichealth/infectious-disease-epidemiology-unit/disease/novel-coronavirus/. If you are interested in receiving our future news releases, you can sign up here: https://health.wyo.gov/news/.

For now, we also want Wyoming residents to pay attention to special travel recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html.

Our most important piece of advice right now is for people to stay informed about COVID-19 and to look for updates and recommendations from credible sources such as our department and the CDC.

Thank you.

Alexia Harrist MD, PhD
State Epidemiologist and State Health Officer
Wyoming Department of Health

I would like to give a huge 'shout out' to Mary Lowden Evans for all the groundwork she has done to get a family home to Cody, WY from Salt Lake City, UT. Mary and her son are former recipients of Pilots for Christ Int. med flights, and a former member from Wyoming. Now living in Utah, Mary is still a huge supporter of this ministry. Thank you Mary......job well done, to see this mission through!
