Reset 2 Balance

Reset 2 Balance LMT, Craniosacral Therapist, Wholistic Body Therapy, Yoga Teacher, Life Changes Wellness Coach “Um, you’re doing WHAT now?” by Nanette L. VOILA! BAM! AHA! YES! CIAO!

Brierley, Founder of Reset to Balance

If you ask any of my friends and family about me and my decision to become a Wellness Coach, they’d probably say something along the lines of, “Yeah, that sounds like her.”

For the last 17 years, up until about 3 years ago, I was licensed as a Professional Massage Therapist in Washington, Oregon, and Arizona. I am recognized by many as a Healing Practitioner

. Some even called me their Shaman Woman. Because of the gifts I’ve come to recognize and trust, skills I have acquired, and the practices I have incorporated into my life, I’ve learned to be open to what the Universe has to offer to me in terms of ‘doing the work’. Yeah, it all sounds so ‘woo-woo’. So let me get into what led me to become a Wellness Coach. Let The Journey Begin - 3 years ago:
I had a thriving practice in the SW and I was living my dream. Something kept nudging at me though and I got the sense that I needed to ‘wrap things up’ because something was clearly going to change in my near future. I didn’t know what it was but having a really strong faith in the Universe, I decided to take steps to ‘disconnect’ from any solid commitments I had in the SW. I closed my practice and got a couple of jobs working as an an Independent Contractor, as well as working part time in a call center for a retirement resort community. About 4-5 months down the road, I decided it was time to move back home and shared that with friends and family. A month after I made that decision, my mom called and said that her cancer had returned. Now I had my answer. I moved back to Kauai. My mom has since passed. It was a miraculous and beautiful event that my grandchildren, my children, and I will never forget. We all miss her terribly, and when I say it was a miraculous and beautiful event, I’m not referring to her death, I’m referring to how she died and the circumstances surrounding that. That’s another story for another time though which I will save for a later date. The Journey Continues - 3 years later:
I am currently working at a gourmet market as a manager, and although this position served me well while I was caring for my mom, and continues to serve a purpose - providing a source for taking care of my financial responsibilities and then some - it’s not what I am passionate about. So I started thinking, I don’t want to go back to being licensed as a massage therapist because it limits my scope of practice. What can I acquire that will provide a big enough umbrella under which I can apply all that I’ve learned and become, and enable me to use all of those resources so I can share all of that with others? The Universe answered. Researching:
My first instinct was to look into Life Coaching. “What does that mean exactly?” That’s the first question that pops into my head when I hear that. That’s just kind of . . . vague, no disrespect intended. Then I looked at Health Coaching. Well, that didn’t sound quite right to me either because it holds connotations of having to do with one’s health, which most people immediately correlate with physical health . . . too focused on just 1 aspect of one's self even though a Health Coach covers so much more. Then I saw Wellness Coach. That was exactly what I was looking for. Wellness, yes, overall wellness in one’s life. I looked into IAWP and I’ve found my umbrella. It covers everything that I have been practicing, and applying, and living in my life, and, oh so much more. The Journey Continues - In this present moment:
I am very close to graduating and receiving my certificate as a Wellness Coach and cannot begin to tell you how excited I am. I’m also looking into other options (income sources) so I can be more flexible with my time to develop and establish my practice. As it happens, naturally, the Universe is giving me various scenarios to ensure that I am serious about solidifying my foundation as a Wellness Coach which I’m welcoming with open arms because it only strengthens my determination and resolve to persevere. “I am back to ‘doing the work’.”, and, “I am passionate about it.” In this person’s humble honest opinion, I think it’s so my foundation will be rock solid, and believe it or not, I’m enjoying the ride. I LOVE IT! How I Plan on Helping Others:
Through private and group sessions, classes and workshops, homework assignments, and printed materials, as well as various resources, my mission is to help guide and support those who are looking to get balance back into their lives, Reset 2 Balance, so to speak. This will enable them to move forward in the present moment, with positive intent and mindfulness knowing that they are whole and vested in their own well-being. Okay, so that sounds a little too technical and ‘book-ish”. Let’s just say, “You + Balance = AWESOME!”

The Journey Never Ends:
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this as much as I’ve enjoyed sharing it with you. There is so much to look forward to in this life and I for one am not so interested in arriving at a specific destination as I am about what happens on the journey. I hope you, in your life, are enjoying the journey as well.

April 6th marked 9 months since my son made his Great Journey Home. I mention this because it is a significant time of reflection, if only to me. My mom's favorite number was 9, my son passed on the 6th.

He felt a deep connection with her, went back to stay with her for about 4 months with a desire to connect with her and establish a deeper relationship with her. He was present when she made her Great Journey Home. It affected him deeply on a spiritual level and has always carried her in his heart.

So, this is indeed a time for reflection for me, a longing to have human interaction with him. I say "human interaction" as a way to clarify a wanting to have a sensory experience with him, once again. I miss hearing his voice, his laughter, seeing his face, giving him a hug, having him physically turn me upside down! LOL

Yet at the same time, I am filled with gratitude as we have established our own way to communicate in the In-between. Okay, I realize that sounds 'woo-woo', but it's true. He visits me in my dreams, I hear his whispered messages in my sixth sense, and when I'm spending time in nature, I feel his presence. The way we communicate has now changed. I'm getting used to it and I welcome it always. As a matter of fact, we spend more time together now than we ever did. Probably because one of us is free from the requirements of Earthly Matters that call for our attention.

And in this time of reflection, is a knowing that grief is part of who I am. It is appreciation, acceptance, and gratitude of the depth to which I feel grief because it is a gauge to measure how deeply I love all those who have passed before me.

I have a greater appreciation for Life and what it has to offer. I now have 2 great grandchildren, and I am so filled with joy and will make it a point to visit them frequently. I intentionally made choices that would allow my grandchildren and I to have a strong relationship with one another. I have always chosen to be proactive with them. Now I choose to do the same with my great grandchildren.

I had an opportunity to spend two glorious weeks with my great granddaughter and words cannot express the depth of sheer joy, fun, love, I have and feel for her. Such a GIFT! And now I have a great grandson. I look forward to creating special moments with him too.

My personal aspirations to 'stay the course' in my work have flourished. I continue to follow where I am being led on the path of teaching, healing, and learning in my own Spirituality.

Life is abundant! My spirit has been awakened to all that it offers, and I am continually filled with awe and gratitude for ALL of it.
I have learned 'being here now', living in the present moment allows me to be aware of so much more than ever before.

Living in the 'here and now' helps you to understand that EVERYTHIING: the smallest of things to the 'bigger picture', that which is unimaginable to us, that which is infinite, SOURCE....all of these things add to the spice of our life, and I am eternally grateful that I get to experience, revel in, appreciate, and absorb all that I'm gifted in this lifetime.

LIFE is grand!
In Light and Love.

Everyday is a day at the beach. Sometimes it’s sunny, sometimes it’s a little overcast, sometimes it’s grey and stormy.
Sometimes I’ll be sitting close enough so the waves come up and gently swirl around me creating a sense of comfort as they recede back into the ocean, sometimes I just sit in the grass under the trees as I drink in the scenery. At times I just float and feel that sense of being held in the arms of moana, swimming around and just allowing myself to be. At other times I recall bodysurfing and feeling myself caught in the tumble and pulling of the riptides and undercurrents, and reminding myself to stay calm and just go with flow because she will always let me come back up the the surface. Life is a beach….

And sometimes, I catch the wave just right and ride it all the way back to the sand. 😊

I’m just trying to stay inside the eye of the storm, heeding the advice of my son:

“I just try to remain as observant as possible. There is so much going on around us, we have to try and sn**ch up the good parts while we have the chance. Eating delicious food, being with good people, getting outside; mental and physical sanity help me remain open to inspiration.”

It’s a journey, all of it, life.

And in all of its complexity, perfectly imperfect, it’s beautiful. 😊

Hawaii is my home. My heart goes out to all who have been directly affected by the fires on Maui and Oahu. Loss of possessions, our homes, is traumatic because it is personal. It's our sanctuary. We feel we have been violated. But we can recover from that, in time. It affects all of us on a human level because we are compassionate beings. So we all reach out and offer our support. We will, in the best way we can, help you recover from this.
Loss of life is always devestating. With the loss of life, we lose a part of spirit, our heart, and eventually find a way to come back to ourselves, but we have been changed. It takes a lot longer to come back to feeling somewhat whole again with the loss of a life, and hopefully we become stronger, more compassionate towards others, practice gratitude for what we have, and our awareness of what is really important and precious to us becomes clearer.
The same is true when damage is done to the land. Nature has a way of cleansing, and creating opportunities for new growth, but we who live there, and call it our home, are affected by this as well. We are rooted in the aina, and we are affected because we are part of it. Nature too will recover, but we must also be respectful of our islands, the aina, our home, and we must take great care.
Hawaii is my home, the people of the islands are my family, we are a community. My heartfelt condolences go out to those who have suffered the loss of a loved one, a friend, a fellow human being. For those who have lost all that they have, their home, I send prayers for a quick recovery. I can only imagine how devastating that must be.
For our islands, our home, the aina . . . . 'O ke aloha o kēia mau mokupuni he 'āpana o kākou. For the love we have for the land, it's people, and all those who feel the spirit of these islands.
