Join us for a Pre-Derby Party on Friday, May 1!

La Posada is hosting a celebration of our own the day before the highly fêted race at Churchill Downs, and we’d love for you to be here. Our culinary staff will whip up Southern fare paired with signature cocktails—including, of course, mint juleps and bourbon-based highballs.

In the spirit of the occasion, you’ll have the chance to place a bet on the Derby winner. Receive a prize if your horse wins, places, or shows.

What a great way to explore the Green Valley area!

Who won that bright red tricycle we were raffling off during our Spring concert series?

Jonnie Stowe.

You may recognize Jonnie’s face if you're a frequent visitor to La Posada’s Senior Lunch program or attend the Community Center’s Reader Theatre program.

Jonnie is a dedicated, long-time volunteer who helps dish out and serve food at our senior lunch program. She loves to help feed others and is always ready to help with a problem.

Jonnie is giving her new tricycle to her brother, Ken, who has shown an interest in cycling through the desert vistas.

The tricycle raffle donations totaled $314, while our Spring concert series donations totaled $796.

All donations from the raffle and the Spring concert series benefit La Posada Community Services, which offers low-cost preschool and child care, a senior lunch program, a welcoming gathering place, and an Adult Day Services social club to the Green Valley-Sahuarita community.

“What exercises are best for improving mobility and staying independent as we age with Parkinson’s?”

At La Posada, we hear that question often… and now, we’re answering it with movement, music, and momentum.

In March, we introduced our new Functional Movement for Parkinson’s and Mobility Class — or as we like to call it: Movement for All.

This idea isn’t just an exercise. It’s a strategy for living well.

Because here’s the truth, many retirees are quietly searching for: How do I stay steady on my feet, confident in my body, and connected to the life I love?

The Functional Movement for Parkinson’s and Mobility class was built for exactly that.

Led by Karen Baker, who believes movement is medicine, each session blends physical and mental challenges designed to improve:

• Balance and strength
• Coordination and flexibility
• Brain engagement through neuroplasticity
• Confidence in everyday movement

Karen is certified in Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery and is an American Parkinson’s Disease Association fitness trainer.

So whether it’s getting in and out of your car with ease, walking stairs more confidently, or keeping up on outings with friends, these are the kinds of everyday wins you're working toward.

And yes. There may be singing, laughter, and even a few creative obstacle courses along the way 🎶

One of the most powerful parts? You don’t have to do it alone.

Couples and partners attend together, learning how to support one another through safe, effective movement. It becomes less about “working out” and more about moving forward — together.

In addition, this class is for those residents looking for a low-key way to improve how they move, think, and feel each day.

Because while we may not stop every symptom, we can slow the decline, build strength, and help you keep doing the things you love a little easier each day.

At La Posada, staying active isn’t about pushing limits. It’s about preserving freedom, joy, and the rhythm of everyday life.

And that’s a problem worth solving.

🐰✨ Breaking News from the Bunny Trail!

Peter Cottontail didn’t just hop down the bunny trail this year. He made a special stop at Los Niños del Valle Preschool! And let’s say—he didn’t come empty-handed.

With a basket full of colorful eggs and a sprinkle of springtime magic, our annual Easter Egg Hunt turned into a joyful adventure where tiny explorers became expert egg detectives. Every giggle, every “I found one!” moment, and every carefully carried egg felt like a little burst of sunshine.

Because here’s the real secret behind the bunny’s visit…

Events like this aren’t just about toys, stickers, and eggs. They’re about building confidence, sparking curiosity, and creating those core childhood memories that stick to your heart like jellybeans.

Just like Peter Cottontail plants surprises along the trail, these moments plant something even more important in our students—
✨ teamwork
✨ imagination
✨ joy in discovery

And maybe… just maybe… a lifelong belief that a little magic can hop into your day when you least expect it.

At La Posada at Green Valley, the answer is beautifully simple: Just dial “0.” ☎️

For 30 years, our La Posada Service Center has been the friendly voice on the other end of the line, day or night, on weekdays or holidays.

Since April 1, 1996 (and 24/7 since 2012!), this amazing team has been the go-to resource for everything—big or small, urgent or just a quick question. Think of them as part neighbor, part problem-solver, part calm-in-the-storm.

What happens when you dial “0”?

A real person answers… ready to help with:

• Scheduling a ride to a doctor’s appointment or answering questions about the daily bus route
• Fixing something that needs attention in your home or apartment
• Helping with tech or internet issues
• Coordinating help in an emergency
• Reserving a guest apartment for visiting family
• Or simply answering a question about La Posada events, classes, etc.

And one of the most caring touches…
💛 Buddy Calls — a daily “I am fine” check-in for residents.

La Posada Service Center Operations:

- 10 dedicated team members working across 3 shifts, 24 x 7, 365 days per year year
- 400 calls answered every single day on our Green Valley campus
- All resident calls for assistance are routed to the proper La Posada department for fast response times.

20th Anniversary of the Taste of La Posada!

Thank you to the ninety La Posada residents who volunteered to make our annual event a success and welcomed 450 plus guests to our nonprofit senior living community.

Also, thank you to our wonderful La Posada team for your ideas and diligence, which made for a successful event for both residents and our visitors.

Friday, March 27, is the Taste of La Posada.

La Posada’s signature, free public event is 10 am - 2 pm.

For those attending the Taste of La Posada, follow the signs directing you to our guest parking areas. Complimentary shuttle service will be provided from the guest parking areas to the check-in tables at our Fitness Pavilion and Dining area. Also, transportation is offered to neighborhoods where model apartments and homes are located.

At La Posada at Green Valley, the answer is simmering in our kitchens, and it tastes a lot like home.

Our Dining Services team already delivers exceptional culinary experiences, but in 2026, something even more meaningful is unfolding. Think of it as a community cookbook in motion, where every recipe becomes a shared story.

La Posada dining services has set a Wildly Important Goal: 26 resident-inspired recipes in 2026. Each dish, whether it’s a comforting side, a vibrant salad, or a memorable dessert, carries the flavor of someone’s life, traditions, and table. So far, 11 recipes have already come to life, each one connecting memories to present moments.

This idea didn’t begin with a plan. It began quietly, as a handwritten resident recipe slipped into a mailbox. Over time, more followed. Thoughtful contributions. Gentle suggestions.

Because here’s the truth: The best communities don’t just serve meals… they invite people to shape them.

To honor that spirit, every La Posada recipe remains anonymous. This idea creates space for residents to contribute freely, without pressure, knowing their ideas are transformed with care. Our culinary team thoughtfully scales these recipes from home kitchens to serve 80 to 150 residents, turning one idea into a shared experience.

And what’s inspiring our future dining menu?

✨ A smoky salmon spread that carries a hint of coastal nostalgia
✨ Marmalade French toast casserole that turns brunch into a warm ritual
✨ Greek lemon soup that brightens a cool day
✨ Seafood pasta salad layered with citrus, herbs, and richness
✨ A reimagined blueberry torte

These recipes aren’t just recipes. They’re edible heirlooms. Little time capsules that allow residents to share a piece of their story and feel seen, valued, and connected.

By the end of the year, this journey will culminate in a community cookbook that preserves these flavors and stories for years to come.

Closure Alert!

Today, March 24th, La Posada Community Services is closed due to water pipe repair.

This closure includes Adult Day Services, the Senior Lunch program, Community Center events, and classes at Los Niños Preschool and Childcare.

La Posada Community Services reopens to participants and students on Wednesday, March 25th, at their usual times.

Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, La Posada remains temporarily closed to visitors and guests! All public and on-campus events are canceled. Unless you have an appointment at Posada Life Community Services, La Posada Outpatient Therapies, the Vensel Treasure Shoppe, or independent and assisted living visitation rooms, please come back another day.

If you have family members living in a La Posada Assisted Living neighborhoods, an indoor visitation room is now available for your visit. To make an appointment to use the assisted living visitation room, please contact Sahra at 520-648-8400.

All delivery drivers visiting the La Posada campus must wear face masks. Those visiting the La Posada campus are asked to wear a face mask and social distance to protect La Posada residents, staff, and stop the spread of COVID-19.

Posada Life Community Services has reopened except for the Community Center. The Senior Lunch Program at the Community Center is on a to-go or takeout, not dine-in.

La Posada Outpatient Therapies reopened June 2020. Now accepting physical therapy appointments.

Posada Java and the Green Valley - Sahuarita Family History library remain temporarily closed at the Shoppes. No outdoor dining or to-go orders are available from Posada Java.

During this closure, La Posada is renovating Posada Java to meet social distancing guidelines and future Posada Java operations. The whole process of redesigning, plan approval, and renovating Posada Java is expected to be completed in April 2021. The Green Valley-Sahuarita Genealogy or Family History Library is being relocated to the old Barber Shoppe location.

The Barber Shoppe is permanently closed at the Shoppes.

The Vensel Treasure Shoppe has reopened at the Shoppes by appointment. To make a shopping appointment, dial 520-648-4082.
